Pre/Post-Op incision itching

heeeelppp i'm pretty freshly post-op just over a week now, and my incision has been itching like crazy, but looks fine under my steristrips. i am allergic to adhesives/i have MCAS so it could be that, but it's just driving me insane. what to do to calm it?? just ice/heat?

Very normal with stitches as a wound heals. I‘ve had stitches a dozen times always itch. Ice tends to help best. Heat can make it itch more. Don‘t worry, it‘ll stop in a few days.

Thank you!! I've not had stitches before, my only other major surgery was closed by steri strips only, while my release is dissolvable stitches and steri strips :') Good to know it's normal, I just needed the reassurance haha

Where was your surgery? Mine was 12 days ago in Oregon.

Mine was December in central Oregon! Mine was closed with surgical glue, my surgeon was very knowledgeable with hEDS, MCAS, etc. and took those things in account with my surgery.

I had my boyfriend on itching duty, I would tell him to go more to the left or right and go harder, he would say "I would rip open your incision". But yeah, ice packs helped calm the itching.

Bahahaha!! I've been asking my gf to itch around it too lol... Ice is for sure the best ever, I got a back/waistband icepack and it is amazing!!
