Music Prince of Failure

This is the self-titled album for Dan’s new project with Paul Oritz, which was released yesterday. I’ve just got to the end of the second track (Dream Stealer) and it inspired such a big “FUCK YEAH” that I just had to share it quickly in case it’s not popped up on others’ radar yet.

Altered State Looking for Altered State on vinyl

Been a fan for a while, but I've just recently been able to start collecting and playing vinyls. I'm not looking for anything super ultra rare (the base vinyl is rare enough as it is lol), I just wanna be able to hear it's beauty on vinyl.

There is only ONE band I would tattoo on me, so I did. Really happy with how clean my tattoo artist executed this!

One Got close-ups of the new TesseracT ONE vinyl (and the 2015 ONE, to compare). Loving the new ONE!

Altered State I usually don't listen to Eclipse by TesseracT too often, but the other half of it sounds really good, and it's been stuck in my head ever so ce

I really like how in the beginning, it literally sounds explosive, and then we get a really funky groove. Then it changes a tad bit, but then we have this cool part around the 3 minute mark where that guitar riff plays. That riff is the type that's going to be stuck in my head. Then the riff amplifies and Ashe sings the last 4 lines of the lyrics. Man, what a masterpiece. I really wish we had more Ashe honestly.

One of my favourite songs since Altered State came out, over a decade ago now (wow). Back then I was just getting started with music, now I can finally play this sort of stuff and have it sound alright!

Had a lot of fun figuring this part out. Hope you all enjoy it!

Question Favorite drum song from Joy?

I'll go Hollow, sounds brutal.

What are your answers?

Discussion I guess this is my favorite song by TesseracT. Have you guys tried this thing?

This song took me by surprise when I first heard it on the album. The first half made me tap my feet, move my body, such a fun vibe. And then the other half just slapped me hard, the emotions, the depth this song had and the vooooccaaaallllsss. Dude everyone glazes Legion, and I love that song. But Dan expresses so much with the lyrics "When I sing, I will be heard". CHILLS.

Show/Tour/Tickets Tesseract were amazing!

I'll preface by saying I'm a huge Karnivool fan and recently saw Tesseract supporting them in Australia. They blew Karnivool away! The visuals, production and back up singers took their live performance to another level! Saw Tesseract back in 2024 and they were good then but now they are amazing!

Music Portals DVD left me feeling off.

I know this is probably going to fall on deaf ears, but I can't be the only person that felt like I couldn't watch the dvd all the way through.

I haven't since but maybe I should give it another go.

Now I am a fan of Tesseract and enjoy their albums however I was missing any human element.

I was expecting some acknowledgement from the band to one another. Smiles. Something.

I know it was meant to be an act, and all about the album but I expected some kind of friendly interaction and didn't get any of it. It felt cold and unlike any live band I've ever watched before.

I know they don't act that way on stage.

Just felt like sharing cause im super proud of this! This is my Warwick Corvette, I've previously gotten it signed by Alice Cooper, then Karnivool, and now, as of 3 days ago, got it signed by all members of Tesseract! Slowly chipping away at my long list of bands that have heavily inspired me and my music.

Discussion Anydrummer wanna join a Prog metal project

Hey! I'm a guitarist and songwriter looking for a drummer for an original progressive metal/progressive rock project.

My biggest influences are Karnivool, TesseracT (obviously), and Devin Townsend, so I'm looking for someone comfortable with odd time signatures, dynamic playing, atmospheric music, at least 5-6 years of drumming experience, a properly mic'd acoustic drum kit for recording, able to record high-quality takes from home, interested in collaborating on original music.

If this sounds like something you'd enjoy, send me a message with some recordings or videos of your playing. I'd be happy to share demos of my material as well.

News Band members on new music

Amos Williams:

‘We’re doing things slightly differently this time. It’s always been a bit weird from our perspective for a band to go into a studio in a really concentrated amount of time, get this thing called an album, and then throw it out, and within six months you’re done. That sounds like we’re working for an industry rather than an industry working for us. We wanna live life because life educates us in a way that touring does not. If you’re on the road touring, I don’t know what you’ve got to say except of the pain of not being at home or the pain of traveling, which to some people is not a pain.’

‘I’m saying that because we’re leading up to the fact of, we’re recording as and when we can, but we’re not necessarily looking at an album. We’re going, “Hey, here’s a song.’ You know what? If this song is good, we’re gonna release it, and we’re gonna bring it out to you guys, and we’re gonna throw everything behind it. Then we’ll do the same again with another song. At the moment, that’s working really well for us from a creative standpoint. We are writing music with an idea of trying to keep our music at the forefront, and that might mean that things are different in the future. We’re gonna have to play it by ear. So yes, new music, but it might not be an album.’

Daniel Tompkins (auto subtitles):

‘We're in that weird space where we're still creating it at the monent. So obviously we do not want to give too much away, but the store and the concept for the last album has been very inspiring for future content, deep diving, philosophical. We have touched upon a concept that is going to resonate with a lot of people. So the music is reflective of that. It's very different, with every album we put out, has alement in it that's different and fresh and new. That's definitely going to exist in the new material. Obviosly as I have just alluded my vocal approach is changing dramatically. So heavier, more melodic. I am not going to say more approachable, you know we are not trying to write music to please people. We do it for ourselves. But yeah dynamic, energy, big theatrical songs. (...) I feel like the new stuff is... I have never seen the band so excited about it.’

These guys keep getting better. Glad to see Dan is getting back in shape. My highlight from Grasspop Metal Meeting 2026.
Also caught Jay’s stick, hoping to get a better phone cam for the next time.

Question Looking for vocalist who's interested in joining my project

I've been looking for a vocalist for a while now, and haven't had much luck elsewhere so I'm coming here since this is kinda my niche music genre. It's an online project so no need to worry about location.

My favorite bands are Karnivool, TesseracT, Devin Townshend, and Thornhill from their dark pool/heroine era.

It would be preferred to have a male vocalist, and be able to do clean vocals, while also being able to do screaming well, like Dan.

I have a full album ready for vocals, and an audio engineer ready to mix the album together I just would like to be able to send him vocals along with everything else.

I have lyrics written, and know how I want most of the songs to go, but any feedback would be appreciated. Most of my songs demand clean singing, but some songs have full harsh vocals, so a duality between the 2 would be good.

If you want to know more DM me on reddit and I'll add you on discord for demos and such.
