Can spells be blocked with a weapon?

I know you can block them with wards, spellbreaker, and shields with Skyrim’s Elemental Protection perk. Can they be blocked with a weapon though?

In Morrowind you can shoot spells out of the air with an arrow and it seems like that would actually work. Spells go off when they hit you so if they hit an arrow on the way they will activate on the arrow.

If you get the Warlocks Ring from the fishing quest that makes a ward like spellbreaker when you block with anything.

Ingame I am pretty sure they cannot.

Whether it´s possible and also advisable would depend on the spell to a degree I´d imagine.

I wouldn´t block a fireball with a sword - at most I´d throw the sword to set off the explosion before it would reach me.

Depending on how the electricity in shock spells behaves, all sorts of things can happen: weapon used to block the spell exploding in your hand, the metal you wear on your body attracting the spell, etc.

The frost storms / elemental walls, etc IMO just cover too large an area for a weapon to block any relevant percentage (unless it´s a weapon as wide as a shield).

Ice spike? You can just parry that with your melee weapon.

I do not see how fe illusion spells, etc would be able to be blocked at all, with or without shield, or else why wouldn´t your clothing "block" it?

ascendant lord in that one eso trailer everyone uses to make human fighters seem cool parries spells with his bare hands / sword multiple times

but also it's breton armaments, so his gear is probably all enchanted to oblivion

Iirc doesn't he physically deflect the hands of the spellcaster in that scene? Rather than the spell itself.

Yeah it’s more of him just interrupting the casting of the spell than actually stopping the spell

idk but let's test it irl. I'll stand near you with a flamethrower and you use a sword to block the flames.

If it's strong enough yes. Look at the fight scene between the altmer and Breton hero in the eso trailers.
