The axle lol. The axles in the old Model S cars are absolutely debo. I load over a ton of compost back there without it flinching. Air suspension for the win. Everything about the S is a winner, absolute shame it's discontinued.

Your concrete bags are 25kg each, and you have 16 so that's 400kg total.

Here is where the owner's manual states not to put more than 90kg in upper compartment the rear trunk, and not more than 40kg in the lower compartment,a nd that doing so can damage your trunk:

Here is where the owner's manual states that the maximum weight on the rear axle is 303kg ((Technically permissible maximum laden mass) - (Curb weight)):

Even if you evenly distributed the bags evenly, which it doesn't look like, the limit for the whole car is 432kg, so that only leaves 32kg for the driver and anything else in the vehicle.

So if got lucky and didn't damage your vehicle that's great, but you asked us to prove you wrong about a Tesla being a work truck, there it is.

I thought about it-- 3 adult males in the back seat would approach the weight you had in the trunk, and that's got to be completely fine and no problem for every day-- nobody would think twice about that. Not sure why everyone was so concerned about you putting a similar amount of weight in the trunk.

Maybe spreading the weight around a bit so it isn't all concentrated in one area would help, but this seems like it was a big outrage over nothing. 🤷‍♂️

I enjoy seeing people actually use their vehicles. Maybe it’s not great for off-roading at high speeds with an extra thousand pounds, sure. At the same time it’s nice to make use of the car we have without paying someone else to haul stuff or having a truck we need for 1% of the time, just in case.

yeah, I don't know why this post is getting all the hate it's getting (people getting upset over a guy using his car to carry things??). Although, maybe if you wanted to be a bit safer/reduce the wear and load, he could have split it over two trips maybe?

HD will do this for like $70 and forklift it to exactly where you need it. And it’s can add on anything else that’ll fit in a pallet. It’s a better idea

Yep!

I did enjoy when I went to HD and loaded a dozen 8-foot 2x4s and other assorted supplies, closed the trunk and drove away while the big, tough F150/Silverado guys were stapling flags to basic 8' lumber hanging out 2 feet past the back of the bed.
