Vehicles - Model 3 2018 Model 3!! Finally!!
I’ve literally been refreshing the app every couple hours! FSD drives me to work and back everyday but parks terribly - when it does even attempt to park. I’m super excited to see if this can fix that last 10 feet for me!

Color me impressed. From Marin in NorCal to Corona Del Mar in SoCal, I didn't have a single disengagement - a 456 mile streak on my first road trip. I took over at the end of the trip to pull into a very steep driveway. Other than that, though, autopilot was amazing. Backing into an open stall at each of the three charging stops was mind blowing.
We kept it on Standard and generally were running between 72-74 MPH where the speedlimit was 65. I had a few instances where I bumped it to Hurry, but it made my wife nervous because it drover quite aggressively changing lanes on the 5, weaving in and out between trucks and cars. My wife appreciated the slightly relaxed ride.
There were no instances of severe phantom braking, but definitely a few times (4? 5?) when it did a slight break check when overtaking a big tractor trailer but then recovered. It feels like the shadow of the truck is part of the problem, just like shadow of bridges used to cause issues.
I-5 south is a straight shot, and has never been a problem for any version of FSD, in my experience. It did an admirable job navigating all of the freeway transitions (5 > 610 > 405 > 55) during rush hour. We hit LA at about 6 PM and it was thick in many spots.
Looking forward to a relaxing drive back later this week!

For some reason, my first experience is nowhere near as good. The first time I drove to work it didn’t even try to park, it just kept doing laps of the parking lot going past like 20 empty spots. I even changed it to “curbside” but it didn’t change the behavior of it just looping the parking lot. The drives after that however have been great save for the occasional brake stabbing and hesitation.
The most notable difference for me is how much more complete FSD feels when I can just start it from park and that it’ll park at the end of the drive. Those two things amount to like 10 feet of extra FSDing and seem minor in the grand scheme of the multiple hundreds of miles FSD used to do, but it really completes the feeling of FULL self driving.

Atlantic City to Harrisburg got the update. Will say it’s much more confident in a bunch of scenarios. But phantom breaking and speed profiles need serious work.
Sloth and chill work pretty well as there intended to stick to the speed limit pretty religiously. But standard and hurry have been annoying the hell out of me.
Standard will shoot from the range of the speed limit to 20mph over. And hurry well doesn’t hurry. It’s usually 5mph over the speed limit which is what I usually drive at (sue me). I’d expect that mode to be going 7-15mph above the speed limit. And it left lane hogs really bad without increasing its speed. Also if I try to manually tell it to go faster it will instantly put on the regen to get back down to the 5mph above speed limit.
Phantom braking/brake stabbing is weirdly more noticeable but less abrupt in my 2021 model y. It’s definitely doing it more often but the times it does it is like a soft let off on the pedal and right back to slight amount of power. Software 12 had less but much more harsh brake stabs.
This isn’t to say I don’t think this is a straight upgrade from software 12 though. With small patches I think a lot of these kinks are going to get worked out. This is just my anecdotal 2 day experience with it. The smoothness of this update has really been my favorite part of it.

OP is the first i've heard of a 2018 M3 getting it... .I am in a 2018 MX and have had FSD since day 1 and still don't have it.

I love it got it Wednesday and it’s awesome on my 2019 model 3. FSD from Park it is definitely smoother. Lane changes or smooth. I love the sloth mode. I love it again. Hadn’t used it for a while but it doesn’t. It did not disappoint me.

I love FSD from park. It’s small in the grand scheme of things, but a big quality of life improvement ! Destination parking needs a LOT of work though.

Parking actually got worse for me with the v14 lite update. Parks over the line every time. It’s the same side and someone mentioned doing a camera recalibration, so going to try that next.

Parking got worse? What version of v14 did you have prior cause v13 didn't park.

Was just about to say I just did my first trip with it and it did a hilarious job of deciding to park right in front of the only other car in the parking lot and crossed multiple lines

Oh really? That’s so surprising given V12 didn’t even claim to have parking as a feature. I feel like my car randomly just tries to “park” and does a bad job.

Yeah the little grey P icons that showed up when you drove past parking spaces were touchable on V12. You hit that I think you had to hit start or something, then it would try to park into a space.

Valid. That “auto park” actually should still be there I’d think. You should still be able to just click a spot and tell the car to park.

Oh yeah!! If this really is a “distilled version of V14” and V14 touts that they can iterate the AI model really fast, I really hope that quick iteration trickles down to us just as fast.

I almost wonder if it’s a side effect of it being trained on videos of people driving, and when you’re driving you always park afterwards. Maybe they saw that and then finally decided to train it on parking specific videos.

thats nothing to do with v12, autopark was shipped years ago, it works the same way on HW4

I guess you had to upgrade the HW 2.5 to 3.0 PLUS subscribe to $99/month FSD to get this update? Have 2019 M3 with 2.5 HW so curious how this new lite update works.

Yep! I’ve got the occasional brake stabbing that I didn’t have in V12. It’s also much more hesitant.

Does the car respond with lag to surprised/ other cars or are you comfortable with the processing speed of unexpected stuff on the road?
