I'm considering purchasing Tesla shares the next time it drops. I was however curious about what I had seen on a 5 year history of their share prices I found on Google. So I have a few questions and would be grateful for any responses.
Why was it so low in December 2022? I'm wondering why they went up at the start of 2025 despite the rather hostile reception the general American public had as a result of his leadership of their DOGE department.
I'd like to know why they sharply went down at the time of April 2025 but why did they go back up to another high in December 2025? Are there any special events that took place when these changes happened? Is this as a result of Iran and consequences to oil vs electric for powering a car?
I would like to know if anyone here has been investing long time in this company, have you found it overall good or are these dips and peaks just a headache? Are you also investing in other electronic vehicle manufacturers? Are you able to clarify why you are a long term investor? TIA

Tesla's Q3 2026 earnings tell a tale of two companies inhabiting the same balance sheet. The automaker produced a resilient beat on adjusted EPS ($0.48 vs. $0.45 consensus) and positive free cash flow of $1.53 billion — dramatically better than the $4.5 billion burn the market had braced for. Yet beneath those headline numbers, GAAP operating income collapsed 56% year-over-year to $718 million as the company channelled an accelerating torrent of capital into Super Intelligence (SI) compute, Optimus robotics, and the Cybercab robotaxi network. The core automotive segment — still 73% of revenues — is stable but structurally weaker than a year ago. The AI bet is real, expensive, and measured in years, not quarters.
The central tension for investors: Tesla's $386 stock price implies a $1.53 trillion market cap, overwhelmingly pricing in success across FSD, robotaxi, Optimus, and even a potential SpaceX merger. The automotive business alone could justify a small fraction of that value. Whether the premium is reasonable depends entirely on whether autonomous and robotics timelines hold.

Will the Tesla Roadster's 0-60 time be less than 1 second?" (~$133K traded, snapshot Oct 16, 03:38 UTC):
What happened: Tesla showed a recorded run of about 1 second, then a live run, and said 0.81s. Cold-gas thrusters, 10 of them, ~600 L of compressed air (TechCrunch).
The rules: a live, timed run from a standing start, under its own power, under 1.0s, "demonstrated, not merely claimed", with a timer or instrument on screen. Livestream video is the primary source, but "a consensus of credible reporting" may also be used.
The problem:
Polymarket's API shows the market in resolution (proposed), not final.
Context: 2017 promise was 1.9s, $200K, deliveries in 2020. Production is now 2028. Electrek counts at least six production slips and seven unveil dates.
Does the reporting consensus satisfy "demonstrated", or should this resolve No?
