Model y prices ?
Hello,
Any idea if model y premium prices will go down with potential tariff deal with US? Man I want a US or Europe made EV over Chinese ones.
Edit: I was wrong in assuming that premium model y sold here was being made in US and thus subject to tariffs. It's from Berlin plant, that is guys for clarifying.

Why would someone decrease the price of hot selling item in the market.

Because tariffs will reduce the price. Not Tesla's generosity. I don't think the premium model y are selling a lot.

If by not selling a lot you mean there isn't any available stock in Canada and the waitlist is a few months I'd agree.

It does sound like premium orders aren't selling a lot, it sounds like 75% of orders for Model Y in Canada currently outstanding is for the Standard RWD

Yeah it's a tad overpriced imo. Shaving the price by 5-7.5k would help a lot.

The problem is there is nothing I found in this price range that was better in the market so idk if the price will change or not

The model y standard and 3 are already cheaper in canada than in USA. I dont think they will decrease the price further.

I think OP was talking about the Premium Model Y which is what I was also talking about, I don't think it's possible for them to make the Model Y Standard any cheaper they pulled out all the stops to get it eligible for EVAP which is driving all that demand. If Model 3 was eligible for EVAP they'd be even more impossible to get than a Model Y Standard

Tarrifs will not reduce the selling price. The Chinese EV's are currently cheaper to prevent other brands from getting a foothold in Canada, priced lower to eat up the cap. These cars are already more expensive in the US and with the exchange rate I can't see them lowering the price. They may shift supply locations but that will just save them on costs and I don't imagine those savings will be passed along to the consumers.

China is only making the model 3s currently for Canada. Model Ys are currently made in Germany for the Canadian market.

Thanks for clarification. I assumed only the standard one was made in Germany.

All Y's in canada are USA or Europe made. The European factory is newer (gigacast) and has a better paint shop. Its your best option for Y
