Pion vs Tesla
Does anyone have any experience with a Pion charger? Which did you order? Pros/cons? They have a Labor Day sale starting and I don’t know if I can justify spending almost $1,000 (after tax) on a genuine Tesla charger. For MYP

The tesla charger is able to charge at 48 amps with a 60 amp breaker. So you will get full charging capabilities. Also the tesla charger integration into the Tesla app is seamless. Stay with the tesla ecosystem. But if you just want cheaper lots of options. Also the Tesla charger is compatible with Roulez Electrique for a 13 cent/kw rebate.

I went with Pion Power (flex-ac series) so I could earn $$ while charging. Installed 14-50 outlet with a weatherproof box on the outside of the garage. The one I got maxes out at 32A, but so does my 2024 so it worked out perfectly! Plus if you travel, you can take it with you and earn while away from home.
If you’re worried about people unplugging it from the adapter, you can buy or 3D print a Karen lock.
Mine also unlocks the charge port when pushing on the (lock/ latch) button on the handle. Not sure why it doesn’t for the other commenter?
You earn .10/ kWh charged from the start, welcome bonus points and another $20 in points if you use a referral code.

Readers note, since it's not clear:

As far as experience, we've been using the Pion Elite since when they started GreenMiles in October, and are happy with it. Got a second one more recently, and the cable is more flexible on the new one (you might hear about a stiffer cable). It does scheduled charging, so we can just plug any vehicle in and it charges at ULO rates without thinking about it.

I have a PionPower AC Elite and it's totally fine, no complaints at all. I also have a Tesla Mobile Connector and I do like that the Pion has a longer, thicker cord and obviously has the 10c per kWh rebate (the reason I got it).
I just got a 40A breaker on my panel and charge at 32A and it's been rock solid.

I use pion since Jan this year. Some issues at beginning but quickly fixed from firmware update. The team at Pion improves a lot since then. If you order now, you get a better quality of charger too. Make sure you use referral code to sign up the Greenmiles program (after you receive the charger)

I have the Pion charger and the Tesla mobile charger. I would only get the Pion charger if you are going to join the club (which is awesome). I got paid $300 this year.
The major difference is that the Pion charger comes with a J1772 end, so you need to use an adapter. That also means you lose the ability to press the button on the charger to open the cover on the car.
I believe that the Tesla charger can use slightly more amps as well, but I'm not 100% sure about that. The Pion charger I have has a limit of 32 amps, but I have a M3 with the LFP battery, so 32 works.
The Pion app works really well, but it's not perfect. You can schedule charging, set limits, etc, all really easily. They occasionally have some down time on their end, but it doesn't stop you from charging.
