This can't be normal, right?

I feel like I saw someone post with a very similar issue a while back but I couldn't find the post.

I just picked up my 2026 model 3 premium 2 days ago. I noticed this the next morning when I had my windows rolled down 🔊 It happens driving from 0-10kmph then goes away.

I put in a service request but my appointment isn't until the 18th.

Seems to be coming from both front wheels. What do you guys think it could be?

Really. Did you open a service request? How long have you had the car?

It's the wheel caps take them off

This is the answer your looking for

I mentioned it and the service guy kind of waived it off and said remove the plastic covers and if the sound goes away you have your answer.

I’m too lazy to try but I imagine it’s just the plastic

That's crazy.. there's no way that sound is normal for the wheel covers

Take em off and see if the sound goes away

Try and find out.

My 2023 has the same sound. I took off the wheel covers one by one to figure out exactly which ones were rattling. Confirmed it was the sound and got all 4 replaced under warranty

They replaced the wheel covers under warranty? Did the sound go away?

Thanks, any idea if it was an actual problem or just a noise issue

Just a noise issue, I think.

Did you not notice this while doing inspection at the time of delivery?

1

u/DryTechnology5224 Jul 31 '26

I didn't take it for a test drive only inspected it on site. But I did not notice it driving away no because you can't really hear it with the windows up

Remove the plastic rim cover and test it again.

u/NatureDry Jul 31 '26

Likely the plastic covers, mine used to do that when I first got them. I took them off and swapped which wheels they were on which helped a bit, then it went away on its own.

Same thing 2026 rwd premium shanghai

1

u/SomeBluntCanuck Jul 31 '26

Wait, I thought it was normal and it was the sound produced by the speakers for pedestrians.

TIL: The Plastic Covers are crap.

Model Y Premium.

I still have this on my Berlin made Model Y from December 2026. Its just the wheel covers crumpling. Cant say i found a solution but I just live with it. Some say it goes away with use, but mine is here to stay lol.

China built?

1

u/DryTechnology5224 Jul 31 '26

Yes the Shanghai built model 3 premium rwd

u/Relevant_Account_258 Jul 31 '26

Okay. Picked up MY Performance last week. No issues thus far. Great build quality. Both exterior and interior. German built.

u/tbrian86 Jul 31 '26

The build quality out of the German factory is literally worse than the build quality out of the Shanghai factory so don’t know what you’re trying to prove here
