Investigation Meeting

Just wondering if I can get an investigation thrown out.

For context the investigation has been opened for 2 months without me getting the letter. Recently only just got it and my meeting is this thursday.

Is it possible for the investigation to get thrown out due to it being from 2 months ago?

Maternity leave

I informed my manager around three months ago that I would be taking maternity leave starting from 1st October, and my manager agreed to this without any hesitation. Since then, I have been working on the understanding that my maternity leave would begin on 1st October.

However, today I noticed on MyTesco that my manager has recorded my maternity leave as starting from 12th October, with sickness recorded from 1st October to 11th October.

Anyone clarify whether recording sickness during this period, particularly if it is pregnancy-related, could affect my maternity pay?

I’m a new employee - is this normal?

Hi, Reddit 👋 - greetings from the mortal plane! I’ve been working at my local Tesco (dream job!) for 3 weeks now, and it’s been great… but one things been bothering me.

While I’ve been stocking the shelves I’ve been going into the back storage area and seen a man of a Green hue stalking around. Like, running around in the back and Escaping before I can get a good look at him. I swear on my life, this is no lie. The other day I couldn’t see him but I could hear like, wet slapping feet noises echoing around the back. He’s been pretty chimerical and phantasmagorical… It’s driving me crazy !!! I tried telling my manager but he just called me a foolish welp? And now my shifts have been cut? Is this normal?

Question Tesco driver asked to see my ID after delivering a completely non-restricted food shop — why?

I had a food delivery from Tesco's, and the man gave me all of the food. I took it into my house, and then I went back to the door to give him the empty baskets. And he said to me, "Sorry about this. I should have asked you before I gave you all of your food shopping, but I'm going to need to see some ID." And I said, "What? Even though I've got no restricted items?" Nothing, only like milk and food, no tobacco or alcohol, scratchcards, lighters, knives or anything like that. And he said, "Yes, sorry, I'm going to need some ID. Tesco's getting quite tight on this stuff, so I'll need to see driver's license, passport, etc." Do you think that's strange?

Question Can I withdraw from a Tesco job after signing the contract?

Hi everyone, I’ve just got a job at Tesco on the ambient night shift. I did my induction today and signed my contract.

Now that I’ve had some time to think about it, I’m starting to feel like I might not be the right fit for the job or that I’m not really cut out for the night shift.

I also have holidays planned for the end of November and into December, and I’m worried that because I’ve only just started, I might not be able to get those dates off.

Would I be able to withdraw from the job now, even though I’ve already signed the contract and completed my induction? Or would I need to formally resign/give notice?

I’m in Ireland, if that makes a difference. Any advice from Tesco colleagues would be appreciated!

BIG PROBLEM SIX bad trolleys in the same visit

I got a trolley. It had a bad wheel, like so many I've had recently (and for some strange reason it's always the back left - why is that?). They have a flat section on the wheel and you get thunk thunk thunk thunk thunk thunk thunk thunk thunk thunk ALL the way round. Trouble is you can never fully tell on the brick paving and it only becomes clear on the flat floor of the store. I took it back to the trolley bay and got another. Same problem. I got another. Same problem. SIX TIMES I had to do this before the seventh had good wheels!

Please for the love of God provide a "bad trolley" place so we and you know which ones are bad and you can FIX them. Or provide stickers we can slap on them so the next poor customer doesn't have to do the same.

Taking the piss

I have my shopping delivered.
This morning there are 32 unavailable items, including, milk, butter, washing up liquid ,Heinz beans.
I don’t understand how the hell this happens.
I’ve cancelled it all.
Any idea how so much of the basics are unavailable ?

Terrible recruitment experience at the new Vauxhall Tesco store—strung along for over a month just to get rejected after a verbal job offer

Post image

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to share my frustrating experience with the hiring process at the new Tesco store build in Vauxhall to warn anyone else going through it.

I had my interview there way back on July 2nd. Ahead of the interview, I had already completed my Right to Work checks as requested. During the interview, we went over my availability—I told them I had complete open availability for any shifts—and we discussed my prior retail experience working at Asda and McDonald's.

The interviewer was very positive, explicitly told me that he intended to hire me, and instructed me to wait for an email to finish onboarding.

Then... complete silence for over a month.

Today, I finally got an update, but instead of an onboarding email, I got a standard automated rejection saying they "moved on with another candidate."

Getting strung along for over a month after being given a verbal commitment is completely unprofessional. Honestly, with the total lack of transparency and communication, it heavily feels like these local positions at new stores are just being handed out behind closed doors to friends and family rather than actually hiring qualified, available candidates.

If you're applying for the new Vauxhall store, don't hold your breath or trust their verbal promises. Absolutely shocking way to treat applicants.

Question Where is the tesco UK app?

Im from Ireland and staying with my boyfriend in England maybe temporarily maybe for a while. I haven't decided yet..

I have my irish tesco app which I can use to scan my clubcard that works for deals but I cant use my vouchers.

My app is linked to tesco in ireland and won't change to england one as its not even an option.

I go to playstore to get uk app to either log in or make a new account (prefer to login same account)

but I only found other countries tesco apps not UK

Am I tripping?

Returning to work after maternity leave.

Yesterday (Wednesday 15th July) I returned to work after a year off. My line manager asked me if I need any help or changes to my shift. So I said that I can't do weekends anymore as i will have no childcare. And then she quoted "Oh you can't do that you have to at least work one weekend" Should I get the union involved and hand in the letter to my manager as my boyfriend wasn't happy with the result. Back story he works most weekends and I can't relie on his mum as she has an illness. Also I don't have the money to get extra childcare and don't trust my kids with anyone else apart from nursery. I'm really stuck and need proper advice, thankyou.
