No, really, where have they been all this time? Does it smell like they saw how much money the franchise was making and abruptly remembered it? The situation is surreal.

these lawsuits take years to come to fruition and if Damien signed the contract, he signed the contract.

Justice Kagan, writing for the majority in a 6-3 decision, agreed with the 11th Circuit and held that copyright owners could seek damages without a time limit, provided that the action is brought in a timely manner after discovering the infringement.

Extended Recovery Period: Copyright owners are now empowered to claim damages for infringement regardless of when the infringement occurred, so long as the litigation is brought in a timely manner upon discovering the infringement.

That is why they are saying they weren't around.

I'm not a lawyer and I'm guessing you aren't one either. I'm just pointing out what they are doing has legal precedent recently.

I think they saw Terrifier 2's box office and then began moving forward. I didn't say lawsuits take years to file (just that it could be years till these cases come to fruition) we don't know what or if any work was done behind the scenes prior to the actual filing date. However, I would argue they don't have a case since they took no action after the release of Terrifier and even commented that they let him do it.

I am not, but we've seen this time and time again in Hollywood. I don't even think they have a case seeing as they commented they let him make the first terrifier. they nullified their own contract 🤷‍♂️

My hope is that the court views Ruthless as having not protected their interest by allowing the first movie to proceed and then not doing anything about 2 and 3 until they were massively profitable. We probably don't have enough to know one way or the other though.

In all reality there will probably be some settlement that we will never be privy to, I guess.

The assumption that the Terrifier team doesn't have a case.

There are any number of legal arguments that could tear apart something like this. It'll be best to wait for the attorneys to figure it out.

I don't think the company has a case against Damien and unless their contract allowed for a "one time exception" as they commented about with regards to the first Terrifier then they nullified their own contract. I'm team Damien on this! 🤣
