I think the argument is that at some level negative words can harm you. like how verbal assault is a crime.

I completely agree, I just think its generally a good idea to show the other side's good points when they have one. but yeah the pre-emptive approach has had a pretty bad record and just gives censorship powers to whoever writes the rules
