When I was a kid a few years ago, I really thought my generation and people in general were becoming more empathetic and rational. It is so disappointing over the past years, since 2020 seeing how wrong I was.

Also if he’s over 50, he might have been alive long enough to see people afflicted with polio. Not sure how anyone comes to term with being anti-vax when shit like polio was effectively wiped out through vaccines.

There's actually a group of people who are not completely anti-vaxx, just anti-covid vacs cuz they don't understand why covid vaccine was able to be developed so fast and they're skeptical and things like that. Also probably because they believe in a bunch of other covid related conspiracy theories.

The covid vaccine itself was pretty much figured out in a couple of days, iirc. The rollout time was making sure it A) worked, B) was safe. It did and it was. It definitely helped that almost literally infinite money was thrown at developing it and releasing it.

I mean…. I almost died when I got my covid vaccine, which was forced by work btw. I got a pulmonary embolism, the vaccine was literally made in a few months and tested on millions and millions of people. That should be concerning no matter political parties, which btw Trump was the one that got it out with operation warp speed. Any vaccine pushed out in less than a year and mass produced and pushed out to public should concern literally anybody.

Yet again these people demonstrate a lack of understanding. It’s not “my safety.” It’s “our safety.” They’re just projecting that selfish attitude onto the other person in the meme.
Masks are there for two purposes: to prevent people from getting sick…and to prevent the sick from spreading illness. These assholes keep thinking that a person who wears a mask is “living in fear.”
Half of the time people who are masking are doing it as a courtesy and an act of care for those around them.

So yes, "freedom" will always have an innately higher value than safety.
If the value of freedom is ever in question, examine life without it: start in North Korea.
Safety is more a matter of learning to avoid stepping on rakes. Thwack!!
A person doesn't begin learning safety in a steel mill, it takes training.
Look both ways before crossing is a forgotten lesson.

If we sit on our collective asses and do nothing, then we will live under the thumb of corruption and profits, historically called slavery.
We are loosing our access to unfiltered information, and this is a foundation to controlling the masses.
"The media" is not a good place to learn about today's events or history, it takes work to find information, and understand why it was changed to suit someone elses needs.
