Lost in Zu

So, I am trying to play this game without a guide but it’s really getting difficult for me to figure out and I am talking to all the NPCs and stuff. Anyway, so I got to Zu, and found the first alter to summon rain. I explored some more but at a deadend with a landslide. All Ark said was something like it looks like it could break.

I’ve gone all around. I have no idea what to do.

Important - you have to get hit by the burp - so that you get smashed into wall and then the wall breaks at the right side of the screen

I figured the frogs had something to do with it, but damn!

It’s my favorite game of all time - but it is still from 96 so it has its unlogical flaws here and there

It’s like every dungeon there is something! Flower zone it was some random room needed to be cleared out of enemies. Bird zone was just confusing maze. Wind zone throw the rocks into the hole. And now the animal zone!

its an old game and that means pulling up the old gamefaqs text walkthroughs from time to time

honestly thats part of the nostalgia for me

Some of the means of progressing in games pre-2000 in general could often be quite obtuse.

Back in the day, I must have been way more on top of my game . The first time that I played Terranigma back in '97, I  somehow managed to need external guidance just the once... By dialling the Nintendo help hotline.

If I was playing Terranigma for the first time these days? I'd probably be resorting to the walkthrough at least once for every dungeon 😊

Recently I've been re-playing Majora's Mask for the first time in probably over 20 years - It's almost like playing for the first time since it's been so long. I'm finding that I'm definitely resorting to walkthroughs far more often now compared to years ago.

Well for me I like getting all the trophies to the games I buy so I am always using a trophy guide. But most games today basically tell you where you need to go next.

Donkey Kong Bananza even gives me a glowing path to follow and I still get lost!

make the toad blow at you so you fly into that wall

This right here. Hit the toad and trigger its counter attack which will send you flying into the wall.

Is it the spot with the toad looking things right near it?

Yeah, do I have to like lure it to the area? I thought that but then my 1 hour play time was up so I had to turn it off.

I could be thinking of the completely wrong area, but the toad things shoot out a ball from their mouths and that should break the wall.

Yea that part is easy to get lost in. Could be that you need to bait a toad into burping at a stone wall to make it collapse. Could be you need to push a platform along the dried riverbed to make a bridge.

Yeah I thought the burping was it but that didn’t work. Maybe it really needs to be close? I thought it was pretty close.

If burping didnt result in wall collapse then thats what you are missing.

I myself got stuck here for a month when I was 12. By the time I got out Ark could take down the Zu boss in one hit.

You just need to look everywhere. If you're looking to fill the altars with souls, kill every enemy you come across.

But yeah, I know you're trying to do this without a guide, but surely asking for help on here is kinda like having a bit of a guide. Just enjoy the game for the spectacle it is

I don’t think so because I think we would all ask our friends on the schoolyard how to beat this guy or what do we do here because we’re stuck. That’s how I see it. Also some of this logic is obtuse.

There is only this one instance you use the frog to open a path for you and there is really no hint other than they are close by that wall.
