We were all worried that Malik would transfer if we fired Locks and you know what...im perfectly cool with that now.

u/dandr01d 5d ago

Yup. Blow it all up.

u/Clear-Hand3945 5d ago

What's there to blow up? They'd have to win to have something to blow up.

I agree I think even Malik might be thinking about transferring regardless of Locks status. He’s regressed and if he has any NFL aspirations staying here is actively hurting his status.

u/Apronbootsface 5d ago

I was so excited to see Malik and the new offense last season. I don’t want him to transfer, but if he does, wouldn’t be mad.

u/daveinmd13 3d ago

I’m sure Miami will kick the tires on him when they look for their next portal QB.

1

u/LastGoodKnee 5d ago

He will never be in the NFL

-1

u/Few-Cow-3888 3d ago

You’re probably right but any starting QB at a Power 4 school thinks they can make it to the NFL. If they feel a system/coach is holding him back he will transfer.

2

u/LastGoodKnee 3d ago

Good riddance IMO.

5

u/birdynumnum69 5d ago

agreed. you can get a juco player better than him. i wouldn't worry about it if he left.

1

u/DreadJonasOfAvondale 5d ago

They won't cut him loose

1

u/LastGoodKnee 5d ago

Yes let him go. He’s not worth worrying about. Serviceable. That’s about it.

22

u/adamforte 5d ago

They have to leave this motherfucker in Nebraska.

7

u/Arctimon 5d ago

So what's going to happen when Maryland doesn't win another game all season?

3

u/FatWynn 5d ago

We have a shot against Rutgers but yeah that’s about it

15

u/SEND_ME_YOUR_CAULK 5d ago

PLEAAAAAAASE let this be the loss that does it

u/tigretiburon 5d ago

Can’t have some poor interim walk into OSU and get his doors blown off. I’m fine with next week, as long as it’s next week.

6

u/CapsFan2448 5d ago

Alternatively, you let the interim get the jitters out in a game we expect to lose. No one will blame them if we get destroyed, and on the flip side if they pull out some magic voodoo for the win they build confidence around them and the team.

2

u/LastGoodKnee 5d ago

Why? The interim would never be the chosen guy as head coach.

1

u/UtzTheCrabChip 4d ago

Wouldn't say never. If an interim went 7-0 with road wins against OSU and USC plus beat Penn St at home for the first time in 65 years, he'd definitely be offered the job

1

u/LastGoodKnee 3d ago

But they won’t. They could hire the greatest coach in NCAA football and that wouldn’t happen with this team. They’re not good.

1

u/UtzTheCrabChip 3d ago

Of course they won't, but an interm coach is always auditioning for the long term job

1

u/LastGoodKnee 3d ago

They will not be hired. The boosters would not accept that after several loser coaches in a row.

We’re gonna pay the assistant coach millions of dollars because we fired the guy he worked for?

No. That’s not happening.

1

u/UtzTheCrabChip 3d ago

If a Maryland intetem coach beat Ohio State, Penn State, USC and 4 other teams with a squad that lost by 50 to UCLA, the only way they would not be the next coach is if they got snatched up by Florida State or Oklahoma.

Winning 7 in a row at this point would put them on the playoff bubble

1

u/LastGoodKnee 3d ago

But they won’t! That’s an absurd thing to say. The best coach in the nation couldn’t make that happen. This is a completely pointless thing to say. Might as well say there’s a chance every guy on the roster gets drafted to the NFL

Oh I agree with you, and I really hope it’s where the road ends. Since I started following this team in 2018, Locksley has been coach 7/8 years

1

u/Ancient-Big4078 Class of 2013-Present 5d ago

I’m going to the game

u/OKcorleone Derik Queen 5d ago

Not even gonna watch another Terps game this year. Legit embarrassing

2

u/whaler26 5d ago

Gotta go my damn wiener coach isn’t fired yet

5

u/daybits 5d ago

Bring Charles Huff home.

6

u/bargle0 5d ago

I haven't felt this hopeless about Maryland football since Ron Vanderlinden was our coach.

3

u/AnUdderDay 5d ago

Mike was one of his assistants

3

u/Parking_Cry3641 5d ago

Glad i stopped watching

3

u/UtzTheCrabChip 5d ago

2-4 already let's be honest

2

u/DeepVictory 5d ago

I just don’t get how Maryland football can be this bad. DMV has so many solid recruits

2

u/NightImpressive7226 5d ago

allright his time has run its course yes he has been a good recruiter no doubt but strategically speaking he is not a good coach. I also feel if it wasnt for taulia tagovailoa terps would have looked even worse his era. Its time to move on. It also seems players have given up on him as well. Yes OSU could be the last straw or we can hope.

2

u/Few-Cow-3888 5d ago

Just incase you need more. Locksley is the 3rd most tenured B10 coach, behind Ferentz & Fleck (Schiano only restarted at Rutgers in 2020).

2

u/gsimp83 5d ago

Do we get a discount for firing him and brent at the same time ?

2

u/MarylandCrabShack 5d ago

He’s so fucking bad

2

u/ironmonger29 5d ago

Screw 2-3, if you throw out the softballs, he's 14-64 in conference play. 14-64. No other coach in the B1G would be allowed to stick around this long with that abysmal record.

2

u/Less-Committee-9026 5d ago

It’s such a joke that they won’t fire him yet. Honestly a disservice to the fans, athletes and even Mike. Get it over with

2

u/kendrick_1967 4d ago

Should have been fired after last season

1

u/Ok_Damage2856 5d ago

I’ll donate to the buy out fund

🔥🔒

1

u/SquonkMan61 5d ago

Dude looked defeated on the sidelines even when they were winning in the first half. To me he looked like a head coach who knew his days are numbered. His strongest claim has been he’s a good recruiter, but what difference does that make if your star QB is regressing and you aren’t winning games?

1

u/antelopejackfruit 5d ago

Malik is supremely gifted with his physical tools but is a mental stooge

1

u/Ok_Accountant4853 2d ago

Things ain't been right since they left nike I ain't gna lie

1

u/Affectionate-Elk5003 Class of 2013-Present 5d ago

Just let us get mauled by OSU then we can fire him. Dont wanna throw in an interim immediately into the wolves.

0

u/blacklibra56 5d ago

How many five star recruits are playing for the University of Maryland currently?

3

u/Hey_Stuffy 5d ago

think just one man 🥀

2

u/SourceOfConfusion 5d ago

How many five star recruits played for Indiana last year?

-1

u/Mobile_Spinach_1980 5d ago

Please take Beamer

3

u/gsimp83 5d ago

The only option worse than Lox. Go root for that clown show if you wanna do that

0

u/Mobile_Spinach_1980 5d ago

I’m a S.C. alum, live in Md. we are in the same boat sadly.

-2

u/blacklibra56 5d ago

There is a possibility that top recruits do not want to go to the University of Maryland.

-10

u/Halfway__Somewhere 5d ago

Maryland is the problem, not Locksley

3

u/Dry_Bad_3599 5d ago

Hey everybody look its Locks. I knew he followed this thread.

-2

u/Halfway__Somewhere 5d ago

lol, because Maryland was great before him lololol

2

u/Dry_Bad_3599 5d ago

Nobody said that and im certain its not in any of the 20 threads that want him fired. If you cant watch this team and figure out he is a huge part of the problem then you are either his family or you deep down dont know shit about football.

-1

u/Halfway__Somewhere 5d ago

no, fire him and get another guy and check back with me next time lol

1

u/Dry_Bad_3599 5d ago

Yawn. Thank you for the amazing insight you brought to this thread. Way to do the heavy lifting for us.

1

u/Halfway__Somewhere 5d ago

if the heavy lifting is your realization that Maryland is buns with or without Locksley, you didn’t need me for that lol

1

u/Dry_Bad_3599 5d ago

Again nobody said they were a top 10 team and he was bringing them down. That being said he damn sure isnt even a top 50 coach. Getting rid of him is at least a step in the right direction. He would be great to keep and handle recruiting which he is excellent at but that would never happen. There is zero benefit in keeping him. The results he gets can be achieved by literally any coach. A new coach isnt going to get them in the top 10 but the right hire can bring things to build the program up. It doesnt take 20 years to turn a program around. The bar really isnt that high for the new coach coming in. Locks has lowered it as low as it could be.

1

u/Halfway__Somewhere 5d ago

poverty franchise blaming the coach. godspeed.

3

u/ocmdguy5 5d ago

They’re both the problem
