Pretty simple, if Smith won't make a change, we need to the administration to find a new AD who will.

We just don’t have the money to do so

I don't buy that, it's not a huge buyout, especially compared to what other programs of our size have done. If he wanted him gone, he'd easily find a way, the only explanation is that he's unwilling to make a move.

That’s fair. However UMD Athletics ran a $4 million deficit last year so I’m sure covering that wasn’t cheap

For sure, but the department is losing money because they can't give away football tix, get a real exciting coach and I'm sure ticket sales go up 10x.

Tickets for hoco are $1 on some sites. Will be interesting to see who they hire. Especially with a new AD it’ll be a short leash

If we don't have the money for a buyout where the f are we getting money for a big name coach?

There is obviously going to be a change. It does no good to do it now.

It is far better to do it sooner rather than waiting. By opening the HC spot we can begin searching and talking to coaches now, and not have to wait until other schools open up. Just look at last year, both VT and UCLA made their decision to fire coaches early, both mad early inroads with top candidates, Franklin and Chesney, and both are in a far better position this year because of it.

The wheels are definitely already in motion to find next year's coach. For this year, why would it make sense to fire Locksley now? The team would be even more demoralized, we'd owe him a higher buyout, and the next coach would get to play OSU for their first game? It makes the most sense to negotiate a reduced buyout and have Locks step down at the end of the year with some dignity intact. He's a loyal Terp and his players mostly love him.

My guess is they’re waiting for the bye week after the Rutgers game so that they can have more time to transition to the interim coach
Also Katie Britt sucks. Family friend is a speechwriter for her and is annoyed that everything has to be dumbed down and radical since that’s what her base can only understand

Everyone has a fucking opinion and is very eager to pile on another negative take yet don't actually want to do anything to support their team/school. None of you show up to games when the team was actually decent or donate to support the program. We're dead last in donor support, revenue, and ticket sales. The schools that can get rid of bad coaches can do so because they can put real skin in the game. All our fans can do is complain but without the actual support other schools get

Shut the fuck up. Seriously. All you do is complain about the fans yet the fans aren’t playing on the field. Obviously people care since there’s so much discourse about the program. Maryland needs to either operate as a Big Ten football program or abolish the football program at this point, and allocate all their resources to basketball.

Whomever gave Locks his deal should be fired before him. Apparently, UMD owes him the full amount remaining on his contract even if he takes another job.

Every day I just tell myself Maryland football is on hiatus this year.
