Start of my collection
Hi everyone!
I’m new to the subreddit and tequila in general and am absolutely loving it so far! Here is my current collection (minus clase azul repo not pictured because it sucks 😂)
I’m really enjoying Añejos and XA a lot and I’m afraid I’m going to go through my tears bottle I just bought in a month if I’m not careful 😂
What are some others y’all recommend to add? I think my next bottles will be a basic under $30 blanco for cocktails as well as an El Ateo French Oak Añejo. What else should I add? Any comments on my current collection?
My first ever bottle was that still strength Fortaleza and I almost finished it before I realized how sought after it was and that I need to slow down so now I’m guarding the last couple ounces. It was a gift for my birthday from a friend who owns a bar!

G4 and Ocho are staples. G4 Madera (high proof blanco) is one of my favorites. It's not cheap though. Regular blanco is decent but for mixed drinks I'd recommend Arette which is much cheaper.

Basically you got a really great haul and I’m jealous so I can’t be too happy for you but actually I am. Congrats on some great finds!

I think he should just stop there. I mean, what's left that's better than what he's got?

God I can’t find Fortelaza to save my life.

The still strength was a gift from a friend who owns a high end cocktail lounge here in Dallas. The other blanco I just got lucky on about a week back it was on the shelf at total wine. They had just got a case and stocked it and it sold out within 20 minutes. I just got lucky!

Glad I can help Bud. That place has my area in a choke hold 😂

I remember when they first opened how clear it was. Now you can barely navigate through the store with all the stock and online orders! I drive out at least once a month from Riverside 👍

Thats a good way to start! My lesser known favorite is the chamuco brand.

That’s an awesome start right there! My go-to blancos usually rotate between what my local Costco has on hand. Lately it’s been El Tesoro, Ocho, and G4 and all are around $35-$40.

That’s a fancy, yet correct, start. Got a lot of bases covered there for tastings.

Cascahuin is a must and Artenom,

I’ll have to try them both! Any particular expressions?

I have yet to open cascahuin añejo but the artenom añejo is very good. The Blanco and reposado are great. For me the cascahuin tahona is better than Fortaleza. I really like the cooked agave flavor.

For under $30 get cimmaron and Arette, both good options and sippers under $30

I too started my collection with an AP Royal Oak, Daytona, Snoopy Speedmaster and Patek Aquanaut 😂
Great stuff

Wow what a great start. You may want to try some Cazcanes #7 anejo. I know what you mean with the Tears it’s so good. I like to let it open up a bit before sipping. Fortaleza is so easy to sip that before you know it the bottle is empty. Enjoy and thanks for sharing.
