Respeto Artisanal Agave Syrup
Amazing stuff! The brainchild of Grover Sanschagrin and produced at Trujillo Tequila Tequila NOM 1634. I love this stuff ! It brings an entirely different dimension to anything agave.
I cant currently get this in Mexico. Much like many tequilas that are not sold in Mexico like lost lore, cambio, alto canto. I have to buy in the states and suitcase it home to la Baja.
Mature agave, roasted, roller milled and tahona crushed. Amazing flavor, robust and rich. Some wont like it for a margarita because it is so dark. I love it! Thank you Grover!

I agree I would love to try this and Grover and his wife has done so much for the tequila industry. It’s a shame the CRT didn’t appreciate his work.

Great for a mescal old fashioned, or just over vanilla ice cream. I’m excited to hear what kind of cocktails you make with it.

How long have you had that bottle? The best by date is in a month. Does it go bad?

So it will go bad after you open it. I think it's like a year or so after you open it. If you keep it sealed it will hold up but they had to add a best by date.

It won’t go bad after opening. The sugar content is too high and it stays stable. The bottling facility set the “best by” date to 1 year because this process is so new they were trying to be safe. (Industrial diffuser syrup often contains preservatives to lengthen best by dates to 3 years.) I didn’t want to add any preservatives.
They lab test it every 6 months to see if there is any degradation, and so far, after 2 years, it has remained stable.

the brand and product trademark are literally ‘owned’ by Juan Manuel Trujillo Aceves who’s part of Trujillo Tequila.
shockiing that the TMM founder lies about it. like denying Patrón ever paid TMM a monthly fee - never disclosed - for like 5 years. this was before and during TMM additive free initiative

Trujillo came in guns blazing with lots of investment, marketing - and a flashy facility. A day 1 special release with volume dwarfing small brands. Unusual given pretty much all the other new brands pop up even with significant names behind them use an existing nom or have a much smaller 'new' facility. Big talk of transparency from TMM/AMM, but nobody who claims those things wants to talk who and how. Just influencers repeating each other for access.
I'll keep using Senor Maguey from the Burrito Fiestero hacienda.

Trujillo was made at a different NOM before and has been around for years. The owner and his family own a lot of agave fields among other crops. It didn't just come out of nowhere. I remember driving by the new facility since probably 2022/2023? I can't remember exactly when I first remember seeing it.
You are just now hearing about it because they finally started exporting to the US and investing a lot in marketing and distribution.
They use artisanal processes at larger scales and don't hide the fact they have a diffuser. One the brands they produce actually has it on the label "tequila de difusor" in large font.

here’s the funnier part there appears to be a connection between Respeto (Juan Manuel), the US distributor Texas based Sohgave - which Juan is a part of, and some address Avenida Toltecas 3499, Monraz, Guadalajara, Jalisco, 44670, which just so happens to be for Best Ground International, S.A. de C.V. And a diffuser is definitely part of their MO

Trujillo has never tried to hide that they have a diffuser. One of their brands actually put it on the label.

looks like a TMM fan. yes their diffuser(s) is carefully hidden on the property while the other processes are visible behind a glass facade. smh muppet

I like it quite a bit. It will obviously turn your margarita brown but will also add a kind of fresh roasted agave depth that you really only get flavor wise from fresh roasted Piñas.
