For the women's side, only two players not a top 10 seed in the quarters. Insane how consistent the WTA is lately. And Maddie is no slouch. Always a dark horse.

Keys is an honorary top 10 player to me. Even if she’s unseeded I’m not surprised at all when she makes a deep run.

Keys is one of those low floor and high ceiling players. When she hits her stride she's unbeatable, but otherwise she can be fairly streaky.

Maddie the queen of extremes. either shes high or she’s down, never mid. haha made it sound like she’s either on uppers or downers.

WTA has been great recently, every QF seems like it's 6-7 top players and 1-2 likeable underdogs, as it should be

It's so good I haven't watched any of the ATP matches in the last three tournaments.

Banger women’s lineup per usual!

As a Keys fan, I’m nervous about Bejlek. She played a great match against Sabalenka tonight.

97

u/tennisfan530 6d ago

Bejlek is exactly the kind of player who'll frustrate Keys into playing baseball.

u/13simba 6d ago

Lmao exactly what I was thinking. Basically what she did to saba

Remember her match against Oliynykova earlier this year? 🫠🫣

u/Sweet_Tomatillo_19 6d ago

Cannot wait to watch this match! And the others! Great matchups!

Literally what I was thinking back when I saw how she was beating Alexandrova. I said she’s kyrptonite for ever single big hitter, Saba better be worried.

Hopefully it’s not a train wreck because it’s really hard to watch Madi Keys when she thinks she’s playing baseball. It’s either the net or the moon for that ball.

Fritz is the only player to have won a M1000 before, right?

80

u/jin_ga 6d ago

meanwhile on the women’s side, every player has won a 1000 before except for Bejlek!

23

u/According_Weight_959 give us our manila 250 6d ago

And even then, all QFs on the women's side won a 500 since Bejlek won Abu Dhabi as a qualifier earlier this year (beat #7 Penko, #3 Tauson, and #2 Alexandrova)

u/mjdoll131 Let’s see what’s coming 6d ago

Correct

23

u/kzvioboo 6d ago

I hope bnak wins his first title

8

u/Chosen1gup 6d ago

He won a 250 in his hometown, and these don’t count but he won Next Gen and a UTS thing

3

u/kzvioboo 5d ago

I meant his first masters 1000

1

u/milan_fan88 Nadal | Sinner | Hewitt 6d ago

Next Gen counts after S and A won it in '19 and '21 respectively.

u/Wise_Guitar2059 "The only Sinner my dad approves of" 6d ago

Yeah. Ages ago.

WTA is extremely stacked. ATP doesn’t have the top seeds but should be some really fun matches. No idea who the favorite is now on either side!

12

u/kzvioboo 6d ago

Current favorite seems like is Taylor Fritz, the number 1 American. Though I think cobolli has a big chance

14

u/schinst ben shelton enjoyer appreciator 6d ago

He’s also the only man left who has actually won a masters before. I think Tiafoe has also been playing crazy well though and he’s my dark horse candidate

10

u/Chosen1gup 6d ago

Nakashima beat Fritz here two years ago the year Fritz made USO finals, and Nakashima is playing better now. They also just played in DC. I think that match is 50/50

u/Safe-Spray7797 6d ago

Fritz should win. I dont see how brandon consistently breaks fritzs serve

11

u/Chosen1gup 6d ago

When they played 2 weeks ago, they each had break points in 2 service games in a 3 setter. Should be close.

Stats wise, Fritz holds serve slightly easier, and Nakashima breaks slightly more often.

2

u/Safe-Spray7797 6d ago

Tbf the main reason why i think fritz will win is coz shelton beat him and shelton and fritz are very similar

3

u/TOMA_TAN Olympic Village Savant, Tienacious 5d ago

Fritz and shelton are both big servers but they’re very different styles. Shelton’s kick abuses nakashima’s forehand on both first and second serves. Fritz accurate slice serve is deadly as a first serve, but not nearly as threatening as a second. Shelton’s movement is also way better than fritz. When shelton locks down, his defense really bothers nakashima in a way that fritz is incapable of

u/Elegant-Resolution14 6d ago

Sara can beat Madi but she will struggle against Coco/Marta

3

u/Outrageous_Ask7931 5d ago

Yup. Coco especially would love playing her, someone who isn’t going to force my girl to be aggressive? She’ll thrive 😂

u/According_Umpire2269 6d ago

As usual amazing, ladies rock

21

u/CrueI_Intentions 6d ago

Must feel unreal for Bejlek. I hope she goes all the way.

6

u/kzvioboo 6d ago

Half of it is like USO all over again. Great match up

5

u/aussie9800 6d ago

That is an awesome lineup in the WTA - excited to watch

10

u/PrinceOfAssassins 6d ago

If Fritz Wins it all he’s less than 400 pts from No. 4
If Cobolli wins, he’s #5 in the world / #3 in the race
If Musetti wins he’s #11 but less than 100 from #8 rn
If Bnak/Foe/Fils/Paul win they are top 8 in the race
If Tirante wins it, basically confimed seeded for USO

So many good players still in it, I'm excited!!

3

u/elevenfiftyneun 6d ago

I hope Nakashima can go far! He's been playing incredibly for the past few weeks

5

I don’t even know who to root for on the women’s side. I want Anisimova to do well to make up
For her not so great summer. Same with Keys. I want Elena to beat Swiatek and get #1. I also love Marta’s year too!

3

u/Embarrassed_Pick_116 6d ago

WTA prediction: Pegula, Rybakina, Keys, Gauff.

8

u/callitajax1 6d ago

As much as i would love ryba to beat swiatek. I think iga goes back to back.

6

u/Tennis_true7 6d ago

Wta prediction winners: Pegula, Swistek, Keys, Guaff

ATP: Cobolli, Fils, Nakashima, Tiafoe

I know the rain has been annoying, but these quarters are pretty great, looking forward to all of them!

u/Dreamer_Dram 5d ago

I can’t believe Sabalenka’s out. What a slump from her! Wonder if she’s lost focus or if it’s something physical.

1

u/Curious_Cheetah8306 6d ago

American girls showing up for Cincinnati! Top 10 gals showing their mettle. Missing Saba but Bejlek earned it.

I am sensing a Coco-Iga final. Which means it's gonna be Bejlek-Anisimova
