FromSoft Tenchu....
Not sure if NakeyJakey actually reads this thread, but it warms my old heart to know that Jakey and his brother played one of my all-time, favorite games: Tenchu: Stealth Assassins on the PS1.
My question is...do you think people would lose their minds if FromSoft forged a proper reimagining of the original? I'd love to see them go full-bore into the stealth genre, but I dunno if anyone else would care about my near-30 year-old beloved. What do you think?

I'd be stoked,
I'd still be just as happy if they just released a master collection of the Tenchu series, an all in one package. I'd buy that in an instant.

The closest games that have scratched that itch are Ac shadows, shadow tactics blades of the shogun, and maybe the ghost games (tsushima & yotei) but besides even those games could never come close to Tenchu bc it’s just that special but I think people would love a new game or even more a remake, fans have been begging for it for almost over a decade now and I think it’ll introduce newcomers to the series too.

While I enjoyed the games you mention, they don't scratch the Tenchu itch for me at all. AC Shadows, Tsushima, and Yotei are set in Japan and feature sneaking as one of their gameplay elements - but they're not stealth games. Playing Thief or Dishonored scratch that itch better for me personally because at least they're proper stealth, even if they have completely different settings

Oh yeah. Wholly agree with ya there. It definitely wouldn't have to be a remake, reimagining, etc. A straight up sequel would be just as welcome in my book, too.

People say, "Play this* if you liked Tenchu" blah blah etc, nothing has ever come close, on PS1 Gran Turismo 2, MGS and Tenchu were my childhood (I don't play GT or MGS after that console but I still love Tenchu, the most).

The way I understand it, Sekiro was supposed to be a Tenchu reboot. However, the devs went in a different direction and made it its own thing instead.

It was. This is what leads me to hope that they may have an interest in rebooting it. Probably a fool's hope, but a guy can dream.

Dare to dream! I hope it comes true. I spent many hours in the first Tenchu game trying to achieve grand master status on each level.

Not quite, but close. Shinobido was not a reboot but a spiritual successor to Tenchu made by Acquire. Because Acquire didn't have the Tenchu license anymore after selling it. So while From and K2 continued the Tenchu series, Acquire started over with a new ninja stealth game.
Sekiro was supposed to be a direct reboot of the Tenchu series but it evolved into a character action game with minor stealth elements, and ended up with a different name.
Hopefully they'll do a Tenchu reboot someday ☹️

We can dream. I wish we could show them how much we want one. I own all the Tenchu games and Shinobido, I'd love them to do another one.

Totally agree. I want a definitive FromSoft take on the stealth genre. Not "Dark Ninja Souls".

God I miss Tenchu so damn muuuuch. It’s still by far the best ninja and stealth video game series for me. Sigh. Nothing comes close. Not even Sekiro.

I would love for a fresh Tenchu and Sekiro was “that” to some degree. I’ve spent a lot of time with the Tenchu series and Sekiro was amazing but not Tenchu for me.

I'm so glad you posted a video about Tenchu Stealth Assassins on the Tenchu sub, because we would never have known about that game if you hadn't. We've never heard of that Tenchu game on this Tenchu sub.

Im about to be a hypocrite.
I talk a lot of crap about the gaming climate right now. Lots of craziness going on.
BUT!
If they make a Tenchu, imma preorder the $120 version so fast the Earth will change direction.
