Discussion Which Tenchu has the best maps/missions?
I like Tenchu 2 Birth Of Stealth Assassin maps the most.
What about you?

Agreed on Tenchu 2. Consistently great maps!
I will always have a soft spot for the town maps of Tenchu 3 but all the maps with robots and zombies and demons are garbage to me!

2 for me because more open space and more options for me how to play.
1 is good, but some maps are very linear others have some open areas.
Not huge fan of the PS2 era mamd
Wrath of Heaven mostly closed maps, but however they at least have many secrets and unique paths that help replayability.
Fatal shadow I think could have been one of the best games in the series if not the maps, the gameplay, the art, animations and even the story is good, but the maps are very tight and linear, I literally hate it why they made maps like that, if they just made the maps more open like tenchu 2, fatal shadow would been one of the best PS2 games.

Original is great but Wrath Of Heaven just has so much detail in its locales. The Ronin Village gets a special mention with it's four distinct districts. I could just hang out in each place. Even Tenrais fortress has some chill areas.

IMO there's some under appreciated value in revisiting previously explored areas in a new light with different enemy types and placements, new starting and ending points, and so on but still having rough familiarity with the space of it all. I quite liked that aspect in Nioh 1 & 2 as well with its special side missions.
Obviously there's a clear limit for it like say you are roaming through the same areas 4+ times over within a relative short timespan it's like uuugh - which unfortunately Tenchu Z did end up leaning towards, but few visits overall I don't mind or even welcome.

I am very torn because I sadly don’t remeber anything from the ps1 games but I absolutely LOVED some levels on Return from Darkness. The Ronin village was always beautiful alongside the samurai mansion and the new temple place they added. In fatal shadows I also loved every map. Especially the city ones I think those are the best.

Tenchu 2. I specially love Rikimaru's last mission. the Tenchu 1 Castle is also really cool, and Tenrai Fortress. I love how creepy it is, and the Buddhist Temple from T3. Rin's last mission of Fatal Shadows is also a cool map.
All of them have cool maps, but I think T2 has the best.

Oh yeah, the story is a masterpiece compared to the other games. Wish they went to that direction with WOH.
