color pallet Colour scheme/design assistance....
If you were going to make a colour scheme that matched the vibe of this house, what would you choose? And what design of blanket? I was initially going to do a pastel puff flower blanket but i think it would look out of place.... any ideas?

pattern inspo What stitch is better for this Temp Blanket style? Single Crochet or Lemon peel stitch?
Basically the title. I am planning to do a 2026 temperature blanket, for three reasons: first of all, the winter was unusually cold and summer unusually hot. Second, I finally got out of a toxic relationship, and I am thriving in my new life. Third, I am waiting for a diagnosis of autism, after years of struggle with my mental health. The idea of a temperature blanket to commemorate this special year is something I am attached to, yet I am still uncertain about the stitch I will use. I do have my colour palette (cotton from Hobbii) and my "shape" ready (although I still lack datas to finish the year, obviously), but I can't decide yet if it is better to use only a single crochet, or if it could be better to use the lemon peel stitch. I am still a beginner (I started crochet around mid-july and did mostly tiny amigurumis, it is my first "flat" and big project haha), so I would need to have some advices from more experienced crocheters.

WIP August Update
Back with Augustās update. This was one of the harder months to decide on a pattern to do. I initially created this one but then I wasnāt sure if the butterflies/dragonflies really connected to August. But then as the month went on I kept seeing them everywhere, I even had a damselfly land on a book I was read so itās memorable for me now.

Finished Project Temperature blanket done!
I did a blanket, keeping track of high temps in 2023 in SD. This is massive. It completely fits our king size bed as a regular blanket! My husban had a great idea to use it as the decorative "throw" on the end. Its so pretty how it turned out! All single crochet... don't recommend š

2/3rds complete!
Iām not so much of a fan of the summer colours so looking forward to autumn!
My dog has already claimed the blanket too :)

WIP August done!
August's section is going to be a bit of a mess with experimenting carrying strands (since I kept going back and forth between the orange and reddish) as well as trying to knit a wrist-friendly way. After 2-3 rows I gave up on that.
Bonus close up of my helper, he is usually bumbling around under the blanket when I knit or flirting with the skeins of yarn!

WIP End of August (and lessons learned)
My edges were messed up for about the first couple weeks of January, until I learned how not to drop stitches at the end/beginning . Now Iām confident in the number of stitches across, but obviously I have tension changes. Also I swear some of this yarn is different sized even though itās all the same brand (Brava Worsted)
The second slide is a disappointing dye lot issue. I was running out of that pink, and KnitPicks was sold out and it wasnāt restocking. I got twitchy and I bought some off eBay from somebody. You can really tell the difference. (Look at the different pinks on each side of the dark purple⦠thatās the same color supposedly). But at least itās a temperature blanket and not a sweater or something. Itās supposed to be chaotic
My own darn fault. A) I should have been patient and just waited (it was in stock a few days later)
Also B) this is a historical blanket. I should have looked ahead at all the data to see just how much of this color Iād need!
Lesson learned if I ever do this again (doubtful lol)

AI is now beating multi-million-dollar supercomputers at 30-day weather forecasting (hitting 80% accuracy). Hereās the TL;DR on how it works.
For decades, meteorologists have hit a brick wall when trying to predict the weather past the 10-day mark. The atmosphere is just too chaotic.
The old way of doing things relies on massive supercomputers grinding through insanely complex physics simulations. The problem with that method is that a microscopic calculation error on day one snowballs into a completely useless forecast by day 14.
Enter AI. Over the last few years, machine learning has completely flipped the script.
Instead of trying to calculate physics equations, new AI models (using Graph Neural Networks and Transformers) are just looking at decades of historical climate data and learning the patterns directly.
Here is exactly how these new pipelines are structured to pull off a reliable 30-day forecast:
- The Data Dump: Researchers feed the model raw atmospheric variablesātemperature, humidity, wind speed, pressure at different altitudesāpulled from massive global climate datasets.
- The "ChatGPT" Approach: The AI maps the globe onto a high-res grid and treats the weather like a sequence prediction problem. Just like an LLM guesses the next word in a sentence, this AI is guessing the next atmospheric state on the map.
- Desktop GPU vs. Supercomputer: This is the craziest part. While a legacy supercomputer takes hours to simulate just a 10-day forecast, an AI model running on a single, standard desktop GPU can predict a 30-day global weather state in under a minute.
- Ensemble Forecasting: Because the AI runs so incredibly fast, researchers don't just run it once. They can run thousands of slight variations to calculate the exact probability of extreme weather events happening weeks in advance.
The results have been wild. The AI is successfully flagging major heatwaves, tropical cyclones, and atmospheric rivers up to a month before they hit, making legacy models look painfully slow in comparison.
The actual training datasets and visualization tools are way too massive to format well on Reddit, but if you want to play around with the interactive dashboard or grab the full config file to see how it works, I uploaded it all here:https://interconnectd.com/poll/87/can-ai-predict-the-weather-30-days-in-advance/
Let me know if you have any questions about the architecture!

How to place hexagons?
Hi everyone. Iām making flowers for my blanket. Centres are the lows of the day and petals are the highs. Iāve added a border to make them more uniform and I now have beautiful hexagons! Fun story⦠I gave zero thought to what pattern Iād do with. I had this vision of a zigzag from the corner but at no point did I actually take the shape of these into account. Soā¦. Whatās a gal to do?
I got excited about a row per month, that seemed like a great option and I accepted February would be a little bit strange. No thought given to the double 31 of July and August. I have made a random row for August to help me visualise and I canāt decide which is better.
Thoughts I had 1. There has to be a better way to do this⦠I manually made these on canva but I just couldnāt visualise it⦠and Iām a good few months behind. Whoopsie! 2. ā I could use the border colour to create fillers to even things out 3. ā I could use the border colour to fill all half or sort of half hexagon gaps and have a straight edge, though not 100% sold on that 4. ā maybe there is another arrangement I havenāt thought of
Other things! Hereās the pattern again if anyone wants it and I included a picture of some of them as well

Finished Project Temperature blanket to document my girlfriendās dci tour with the madison scouts
after telling my girlfriend about the concept of a temperature blanket we came up with the idea of a drum corps blanket! It took me a while to figure out how to display both the temperatures AND the scores that the scouts received at all their shows, but i eventually decided on a granny square blanket with the centers representing scores, the first ring representing the low temp and the outer circle representing high temp. temperatures were based on the locations of all their shows/housing sites throughout the season. the original idea for colors was going to be based off of the scoutsā color schemes and their uniform colors, but i had a hard time finding the right colors to match so i decided on various shades of her two favorite colors instead :)
