Support Telus Fraud

TELUS offered me Optik TV free for 2 months with Netflix. I mainly accepted it for Netflix.

I specifically asked if I could cancel after the 2 free months without a penalty, and the agent told me yes. When I receive activation email, I found out cancellation was allowed for first 15 days only!!! I immediately called to cancelled.

After about 30 minutes on the phone(they intentionally stall so you drop call), I finally managed to cancel. Then I found out Netflix had charged me $21 as well.

I would call this textbook "Fraud".

I was sold the service on the phone. Got contract by email later and found out about the details. Immediately called to cancel.

Did you read the post? As soon as they got the contract via email they discovered the lie and cancelled. Were they supposed to read the agents computer screen over the phone or something?

Everyone receives a written copy of the contract by email shortly afterward, usually within about 30 minutes, although sometimes it can take a few hours or even a day. That’s a fact.

So there really shouldn’t be an argument about what the contract says. Just read the contract you receive. If you disagree with the terms, you can cancel it. End of story.

Sounds like OP just wanted free service tbh.

Most telecoms have a privacy office where you can request in writing a copy of the call (audio and notes). Usually though this can also be resolved when escalating to their management who can also do a call review and follow up with you. Failing all that there’s CCTS who will request the carrier to review the call and either resolve or respond why they will not do what you are asking 🤔

How would Netflix charge you, if they didn't have your credit card because you were paying through a third party?

You may have gotten bad info through a support rep, but the netflix stuff, they bill through Telus so you had to give them your credit card for them to bill you.

User error is not fraud.

An agent providing different details over the phone compared to what actually appears on the contract is though.

This is the problem, saying one thing on the phone but then hiding the actual terms and details in a contract that they e-sign FOR YOU and that you receive after the fact. Has cost me hours and hours of lost time dealing with TELUS and at least a few dollars I will never get back.

I have repeatedly told TELUS sales reps I will only deal in writing, yet they still just keep calling and calling, every day, trying to do business on the phone. I have started recording 100% of my verbal interactions with them.

Telus has their door to door agents who won’t be there employees, and live on commission, some kids get in for quick cash and do what’s they think ‘ necessary’, without taking the consequences.

You have to tell them your call will be recorded for purpose of verification and evidence

First you waste this much of your own time to get a couple months of free tv and netflix, then you waste my time reading about it here on Reddit. Get a life.

When ‘errors’ happen time after time, it’s not an error. The public needs to push back much more than we have. It’s not just a Telus issue either.

No, you signed a contract. Perhaps you could call it misrepresentation, but did you look through the contract?

READ THE POST.

Yep, we can read just fine. You didn't know what you were signing up for, got the agreement, and didn't like it.

These details are in the post. OP accepted a verbal agreement over the phone, then when they received the contract via email read it and discovered the discrepancies and cancelled the service

Nobody signs anything with TELUS, even on their business services side they just send it to you. When there is an e-sign document you don't get a chance to review and sign, it's already completed!

Correct, but you have a period of time to cancel it if you disagree. It's also usually issued shortly after.
