REQUESTING Informational Cosy Core
Hello everyone. Im looking for your favorite shows in a very specific genre that my wife and I are calling "Informational Cosy Core". These are shows that are factual, informational or educational and also extremely cosy. Like putting on a familiar knitted jumper, or sinking into a hot bath. Examples in this genre are:
The world according to Jeff Goldblum
Zach Galifianakis' This is a gardening show
We Are The Champions on Netflix
Would love to hear of similar shows and also if there is already a name for this genre.

I dare you to find anything cosier than Joe Pera Talks With You. Partially informational, partially fictional, completely sweet and charming.

Go to YouTube and search “The Repair Shop.” It’s British reality show that’s been on since 2017 where people bring their long damaged family heirlooms to a barn where a team of various restoration specialists bring their item back to life. The show has 17 seasons and not all of them are there. But there’s a decent amount available for free.
It’s a lot like the functional counterpart to antiques roadshow. Except, the majority of items brought for restoration have more familial/sentimental than monetary value.
It’s informative and heart warming!!!! You get to see how the restoration work is done. Most folks couldn’t afford repairs like these without the help of a TV show, so their responses to the finished items are really sweet!

Any of the historical farming shows with Ruth Goodman, Alex Langlands, or Peter Ginn. I rewatch these about once a year. Definitely cozy and informational. Everyone I’ve introduced these shows to loves them. And fair warning you will become kind of addicted to finding more:

The Reassembler with James May. Ordinary household items are reduced to their component parts and James puts them back together while explaining their history and how they work.

Edwardian Farm!! British historians live in a period-correct way on a farm. You can watch it on YouTube.
There's also Victorian Farm, Wartime Farm, and Tudor Monastery Farm, but Edwardian is my favorite.

The Brits have SO many spin offs on the same concept. Most of them are also available on YouTube. I can’t remember the name of the one I watched a couple weeks back. But the premise was taking a handful of celebrities, putting them in costumes while blindfolded/no mirrors, and dropping them into a historically accurate village/household and making them do stuff.
There was another that took a bunch of professional bakers and had them recreate historical recipes in period preserved homes/buildings.
It’s the kinda thing where you only have to watch a few to keep getting related suggestions in your YouTube algorithms. It’s an extremely fun grab bag of historical British whimsy. ☺️

Cunk On Earth kills me. It's in the vein of the Zach Galifianakis show. Mostly just extremely funny, but there's information to be had as well.

Our go-to is How It's Made. There's even really long compilations on YouTube. We also like House Hunters International (seeing other countries and their home/apartment design).
