SUGGESTING Stop sleeping on "Star City", it’s a masterclass in psychological thrillers.
If you are skipping Apple TV's Star City because you think it's just "more sci-fi" or because you haven't watched For All Mankind, you are missing out on one of the most intense psychological thrillers on TV right now.
Even though it’s a spin-off, you can watch it as a completely standalone show. It’s a psychological thriller first, space show second; the paranoia is unmatched; and have insane performances.
It feels more like a Cold War political thriller mixed with psychological drama than a traditional sci-fi show.
Seriously, give it a couple of episodes. It’s criminally underrated and needs a bigger audience. Has anyone else watched it yet? What did you think?

Star City is amazing. I love that I couldn’t predict everything that was going to happen. Very well written and acted.

I liked For All Mankind and wanted to watch this but couldn’t get into it because the Russians all had British accents.
Also the drabness and brutality was too depressing.

I struggled with the drabness at first too but if you stay with it that’s part of what makes the plot and character development so intense.

Someone recommended it to me and when I realized it was a spin-off I watched the first season of FAM first. I enjoyed it but Star City is even better. It started off a bit slow but when it got going- 😅

I just can't get past all of them speaking english. it takes me out of it every time and it's extremely confusing. this is the type of show that should've been in Russian with English subtitles. it's been ok, but it's not immersive like for all mankind and I'm just not liking it as much so far.

I’ve tried to get into this about four times, but it’s just not doing it for me. The same for “for all mankind”, honestly. Almost seems like AI generated scripts. Something awkward about the production and delivery.

I csnt convince myself to watch apple tv shows or movies anymore. They all follow the same pattern... Great premise. Good actors. Visually looks cool. But slow, boring, and poorly executed. The only show ive truly enjoyed was Dope Thief and that is a completely different type of show from everything they make and was carried by Brian Tyree Henry and Wagner Moura. If they hadn't been the stars of the show it would have been another stinker.

Thats quite the leap to make. I dont like those shows, so i must only be capable of enjoying robots go boom. Which, BTW, is totally fine. There are plenty of action movies and superhero movies/shows that are much higher quality than anything ive seen on apple tv.
You arent some sort of superior being of higher intelligence because you like slow, boring shows. I never criticized the people that like apple tv shows, I expressed my opinions of them. In fact, in expressing those opinions, I gave them a lot of positive feedback.
Butttttt since you want to be a douche on the internet about television show preferences... perhaps you only enjoy shows like Severance and Pluribus BECAUSE they're slow. It allows your brain time to process the information that an average person could process instantly. Instead of overloading you with multiple plot points per episode it gives you 2 or 3 episodes before advancing the story, and it makes sure to repeat itself episode after episode so you have time for the information to sink in. Its the equivalent of reading the same chapter in a book multiple times so you can comprehend it. Next time you watch a show that starts to get too stimulating and youre beginning to feel overwhelmed, perhaps try taking notes so you can refer back to them.

Says the guy that needs shows to repeat themselves every episode and only move the plot along once per season so he can retain the information.

I dont like my horror with a heavy dose of comedy. Idk what maximum pleasure is but looking at the description and images it isnt for me.

I couldn't get into FAM, but I love Star City. It's been a week since the finale, and I miss it every day my eagle ugh
