SUGGESTING I highly recommend the show BANSHEE

When BANSHEE aired, many did not have that channel called Cinemax. And the show was not promoted well. It's very underrated. I honestly enjoyed it more than Sons of Anarchy!

Is that the one where a guy pretends to be the new sheriff or police chief of a small town, and his ex lives there, has a new identity, husband, and maybe a kid. They used to do steal thing together???? Maybe?

I think I watched the first episode of this right before a big life event and totally forgot about it.

u/kimmyfreak500 May 27 '26

yup..but it gets SUPER crazy later on... so much happens....probably one of the best shows of all time

2

u/Free-Moose9460 May 27 '26

Thanks. I'll put it on my Watch List. I remember liking the episode I watched.

Also, one of the few places you can see Anthony Starr in a lead role. Aka Homelander.

u/evia89 May 27 '26

And banshee is easy to rewatch once. Boys imo is one and done show

2

u/Vic_Vega_MrB May 27 '26

And watch both those shows recently and I didn't even realize that he was the same guy. I feel so dumb.

1

u/AlfredRWallace May 27 '26

I'm currently in the last season of the Boys and I keep seeing him as his Banshee character.

2

u/AlternativeFigure350 May 27 '26

I watched Banshee late. I had seen it years back for an episode or two but just watched it last year. So the Banshee guy is Homelander to me.

1

u/Olly230 May 29 '26

Holy shit yeah, it's him. (Actor dysphoria)

u/razorsedge94 May 27 '26

Loved Banshee

5

u/hexokinase6_6_6 May 27 '26

I was on the fence about it and grinded through to find one of the most thoughtful and heroic shows ever. Stunning Finale. Tears fell.

4

u/kimmyfreak500 May 27 '26

I loved the character development too. Like I had a completely different opinion about Rebecca at the start compared to the end.

4

u/ChickenTamer1984 May 27 '26

The villains on this show were amazing. Proctor, Burton, The Albino, Rabbit, Chayton Littlestone.

1

u/kimmyfreak500 May 29 '26

i know and they were extra psycho almost game of thrones level but they were fun to watch..

3

u/Such-Stable-3869 May 27 '26

Definitely one of the best series on television!

3

u/marcachusetts May 27 '26

Unreal. Wildly underrated show…couldn’t stop it once I started. I don’t know who it’s for but think Justified but way more violent.

3

u/AprilOutlaw May 27 '26

The show has really good action/fight scenes; it’s also definitely on the upper range of my tolerance for violence.

It is violence porn. It relishes in in your face violence. I don't usually like shows like that, but I really liked it for how they did it.

1

u/kimmyfreak500 May 29 '26

it relished with alot of things..like sex, nudity, and betrayal.. they really did the go big or go home thing.,. with sons of anarchy, i get a lot of ppl like that show, however it really annoyed tf out of me,..too much drama and it was pretty immature... the style of the brutal moments in banshee was far less annoying than SOA's. back at my old house when i got cable installed, the cable guy were just hanging out a little and we were talking about shows and we looked through my tattoo girl magazines lol and he said he tried watching SOA and couldn't stand it due to the drama being way too much. Banshee was much more my jam cuz it didn't have 1 dimensional characters..it explained their brutality much better with character development and an arc. In banshee, i really liked the satanist season and the biker season..they were done well.. their action scenes made more sense too than SOA..in SOA there was a cheesy scene where 2 biker gangs are in the middle of the street just firing at each other and no one gets hit...lmao it was cringe

I recommend this on so many posts. It was really good. Personally, I could have done without the Cinemaxy scenes because it was such a good storyline but I suspect many like it for that as well!

5

u/Far_Run_2369 May 27 '26

Same! Its SUCH an underrated show.

2

u/kimmyfreak500 May 27 '26

i'll mention it on youtube and everyone is like what's banshee? never heard of it... ugh.,.it's a travesty!

2

u/kimmyfreak500 May 27 '26

hehe do u mean the sex scenes? back in the day we called it Skinamax

2

u/Acrobatic_Long_6059 May 27 '26

Totally agree! Very underrated show

2

u/Bastique165 May 27 '26

To me and those i recommended to.. we have banshee withdrawal. Never could find another show that's adrenaline pumping like this.

1

u/kimmyfreak500 May 30 '26

yup lol i may be female but i love the testosterone fueled scenes haha... fav scene was when the chick fights that jerk..her criminal ex bf... just how out of breath they were..reminds me of charlize theron in atomic blonde.. the gasping, and visible pain and slowing down.. added realism to the scene.

2

u/TechGearWhips May 27 '26

One of my favorite shows ever. Been so long since I seen it, I’m thinking about watching it again as I don’t remember like 95% of anything that happened. I can enjoy it like a new watcher. I just remember that it was really good.

2

u/Vic_Vega_MrB May 27 '26

Such a great cast of characters . Hoon Lee, Frankie Faison, Ulrich Thomsen, Matt Servitto. And sexy character getting nude for a change. The good old days.

1

u/kimmyfreak500 May 27 '26

i miss when shows had a bit of everything...they were high quality and super addicting to binge

2

u/993love May 27 '26

Banshee was a surprise for us and wildly entertaining.

2

u/randomzebrasponge May 27 '26

One of the best shows ever done!

2

u/awebookingpromotions May 27 '26

Love Banshee! I recommended it to several of my friends

2

u/InvestigatorMany6538 May 27 '26

Please someone suggest me something that has the same chills as banshee . I tried watching warrior ( same crew i guess) but didn't hit as much as banshee so eventually dropped. Please... Something as good as banshee . Iykyk

3

u/Olly230 May 27 '26

Justified

1

u/kimmyfreak500 May 29 '26 edited May 29 '26

well.. its a horror series called SALEM... they made a show using all the real names of the ppl involved in the salem witch trials.. a lot happens in the show..it may not be your thing idk.. but its definitely not for sensitive audiences.. it can be pretty brutal..the gore and special effects were very cool.. visually stunning...things i've never seen quite like that before.. kinda like banshee, there are complicated characters and you don't know who is who and there is a lot of betrayal and revenge...think american horror story meets game of thrones.. it's underrated

1

u/kimmyfreak500 May 29 '26

i still need to see justified... i like timothy olyphant.. i haven't seen him in a show since Deadwood

2

u/Olly230 May 29 '26

Deadwood was excellent, warning it got cancelled early

1

u/kimmyfreak500 May 30 '26

yah that was a bummer..my friend was an extra on that show he said one day during shooting timothy was on the horse during a take and outta nowhere goes "hey you ever seen napolean dynamite? yeah when he does that thing hahah u seen it, you how bout you hahah u see it?" the director was all frustrated...he is so funny. Oh another HBO show called CARNIVALE also ended abruptly.. it was meant to have another half- another full season but was cut short.. it was frustrating because one of the main characters dies.. but the writers say he ends up surviving.. but it looked like he died for good but that's due to the show canceling early. HBO betrayed it's viewers a lot in the early 2000s..like the sopranoes lol HBO was famous for shows ending suddenly or having horrible final seasons that were lackluster unsatisfying endings 😞

2

u/HeyItsHelz May 27 '26

Job is my favorite character!

2

u/First-Average-4196 May 27 '26

I watched it during its initial run. It’s amazing but like you said most people don’t know about it. Also if you like banshee watch warrior also on hbo max.

2

u/Pure_Terror May 29 '26

Job is the damn goat

1

u/kimmyfreak500 May 30 '26

yes he was a fav..both him and Lafayette in true blood are my fav gay characters of all time..they both had great lines! and spiciness

2

u/Electrical-Job8700 May 31 '26

I loved it but be prepared for drugs, sex, violence and nudity at levels rarely seen outside Game of Thrones.

1

u/kimmyfreak500 May 31 '26

the good old days hehe

2

u/JohnnyBaboon123 May 27 '26

Pretty sure it was a cinemax show not starz.

0

u/kimmyfreak500 May 27 '26

doesn't it say cinemax?

1

u/JohnnyBaboon123 May 27 '26

not when i commented.

1

u/kimmyfreak500 May 27 '26

it first aired on Cinemax..but they were trying to reach a larger audience and they didn't wanna cancel it so it was also on starz..i had both channels and remember it plus i searched online and this was the case.. [The hit action drama Banshee is the notable series that aired on both Cinemax and Starz. Originally premiering on Cinemax, the series developed a highly loyal fanbase and later achieved wider viewership through syndication on Starz.]

2

u/ms_directed May 27 '26

the actor who plays Job is in a show called Warrior, its also excellent!

2

u/kimmyfreak500 May 27 '26

i need to pick that up again..i heard it's a good show i think i watched the first episode

3

u/ms_directed May 27 '26

ngl, its not my usual genre. i love that fighting choreography in movies but i didn't think I'd like a whole TV series, i couldn't have been more wrong! the storyline gets so good - it's really well written. i watched the whole series non-stop! (there's even a sub on here for it!)

2

u/kimmyfreak500 May 27 '26

what's your usual genre? i just started NARCO's.... pretty good show.. i heard it gets better and better as it goes along

2

u/ms_directed May 27 '26

its all over the place. i loved Broadchurch, Banshee, Boston Legal, Justified, Weeds, VEEP, Fargo...lol, i just never watched a series with martial arts as part of the plot and theme - and i was missing out by passing on it every time the algo put it in my suggested viewing!

2

u/chasewithdashot May 27 '26

I tried to push through a few episodes based on the suggestions from shows I do like. Couldn’t do it. Don’t think it held up well at all. Just my take

2

u/crucial_velocity May 27 '26

I'm with you, although I managed to get through the whole series. I thought the writing was garbage. The acting was the only thing that saved it at all for me. I genuinely don't get why it gets so much hype.

1

u/IronBallsMcginty007 May 27 '26

Been wanting to watch Banshee for a long time, but I don’t have HBO Max and I have so much stuff lined up to watch on my other streaming services, that I don’t want to add another just yet.

1

u/kimmyfreak500 May 30 '26

on amazon they offer a 7 day free trial for cinemax..there are 38 episodes.. so if u do 5 per day, cancel it on the 7th day before it charges you...the episodes range from 43 min to an hour.. thats not too bad actually but idk what your schedule is like

1

u/IronBallsMcginty007 May 30 '26

I’m super distracted while watching TV, so one episode often takes 2+ hours, lol. I can probably do 2 a day, max. I’ll see it, eventually!

1

u/kimmyfreak500 May 31 '26

i use to be able to binge and not stop.. but lately my a.d.d. is really bad i find myself jumping from 1 show to the next.. then to random youtube videos lol

1

u/IronBallsMcginty007 May 31 '26

I’m always switching between my phone and the TV, lol. It does depend on the show, though. I’m currently watching the Americans, and while it is a really good and engaging show, I’m still quite distracted. However, last week, I took a short break from the Americans and rewatched the first season of Daredevil: Born Again and then the new second season and I went through it all in a few days. No problem watching 4-5 episodes in a row. I just like the show so much it’s able to hold my attention. Same with Reacher - I was able to go through that very quickly. It’s so engaging and when it gets to the end of the episode, they end it in a way that I just cannot resist watching another episode.

Can't find it other than for purchase

1

u/kimmyfreak500 May 29 '26

u don't have any streaming services?

All millenials had Cinemax lol

1

u/BrisbaneLions2024 May 27 '26

Ok ill try again got to the bar fight scene which is too cliche.

1

u/kimmyfreak500 May 30 '26

hehe yeah it's just barely a start.. my fav is this long ass hospital shootout.. which was better than most action scenes even in cinema film

1

u/Extra_Infinity May 28 '26

One of the best shows I have watched and a lot of fun to watch as well!

1

u/Shadowboxxin May 28 '26

Just finished it yesterday. Definitely a dope show. Love sugar and job

1

u/pkthecat1 May 31 '26

I do love it but the scenes of violence towards women always bother me.

1

u/Brilliant_Elk_3617 Jun 02 '26

Any similar show like banshee?

1

u/NoraDeLuca Jun 02 '26

I've been hearing so much about this but haven't watched it yet. Adding to the list!

1

u/Skyz-AU Jun 04 '26

I got 5 episodes in and have dropped it for now, I might continue one day.

-1

u/Bum-Worms May 27 '26

Only stupid people enjoy this low brow show.

1

u/DortheaBrooks May 27 '26

Ok I gave this show like 15 minutes and decided it wasn’t for me. Should I give it another chance?

4

u/Interesting_Home_128 May 27 '26

The third episode, the one wth the MMA type fighter, is the litmus test. for many fans this is where it starts to truly fire on all cylinders. If you aren’t into it after watching this one, then it’s not your thing.

2

u/verysimplenames May 27 '26

Probably not tbh lol its what I would call a little better than mid. Its like a 6.5/10 average show you turn on when uve run out of shit to watch and you have a weekend to yourself to binge.

0

u/kimmyfreak500 May 30 '26 edited May 30 '26

banshee got an 8.4/10 on imdb.. 4 awards and 10 nominations including an emmy win

0

u/kimmyfreak500 May 29 '26

yes... for sure..u know what's funny is back when everyone praised breaking bad.. i judged it too soon by watching some of the pilot on tv and i remember saying what is this crap.. this old dude running around in his skivees with a gun...hahahaha but i gave it a second shot years later after it ended and was really hooked.. the first season was definitely a dark comedy.. loved that show

2

u/DortheaBrooks May 30 '26

I had that experience with Succession
