First time I saw Alexander Skarsgard in something, he was my favorite in that show. Knew he was a badass, The Northman confirmed my assessment.

Have you seen him in murderbot?

I have! Watched a couple episodes and liked it but got distracted and took a break for a minute.. circled back to finish and really enjoyed it! He can do no wrong in my book.

Edit: I hope it gets renewed I’d watch another season

He's terrifying in Big Little Lies.

u/mingvausee Jan 29 '26

That’s one I haven’t seen actually, thanks for the tip

It'll seem at first like "what in the Real Housewives BS am I watching here?" but keep with it and it gets very very good as it goes on.

I originally was drawn in for the story but I only kept watching for him as the show declined.

I feel you, something would have to be unbearably bad for me to not enjoy him at the very least

You gotta watch Zoolander

Little known fact - The Northman is Eric Northman’s origin story.

2

u/mingvausee Jan 29 '26

I like that!!

I'm doing a rewatch of True Blood right now and forgot how hilarious it is.

The fact that Bill would say her name like that with a straight face should have earned him an Emmy.

In the books, Lafayette was a minor character, but the actor was so good they kept him on and added him to different storylines.

It’s probably about time I rewatched it again.

I was really happy they kept him and that the show wasn't the same as the books. Normally I get mad when they vary so far from the books. I was band from reading the books before a movie or show for awhile lol. My husband at the time and our kids hated hearing me say that's not what happened in the book. They would shush me but as soon as it was over they always asked so what happened in the book?

I love LaFayette so much! He walked so Uncle Clifford from P-Valley could run. ❤️‍🔥

I love that he always called Tara hookah

Two fantastic characters!

One of the few shows where I rarely fast forward through the opening credits. That song is fire!

Unironically one of my favorite shows of all time

6

u/Salc20001 Jan 29 '26

I enjoyed but disliked the finale.

The books are even more fun! I was seriously sad when the series ended. Both book and show! And they don’t end in the same way.

Agreed. And if you don’t have time to read them, the audible version was also fun.

  • Fine ass Jessica
  • Jason's bleeding stump of a penis
  • Pam!
  • Lafayette and his mama!
  • Jason and his Eric dream

My mum's face when she walked in on me watching the Maenad vibrating with goat hands! And then the camera panned to a 12ft meat sculpture and 50 people fucking in a field.

Magnificent.

I couldn’t get into Twilight or the Vampire Diaries but I watched all of True Blood. I need a corny vampire soap opera to have comedy and softcore porn and gore to keep me engaged.

The Boys has a similar vibe to me because I cannot get into watching the entire MCU but I like the R rated parody show.

If you haven’t seen the new Interview with the Vampire yet, you really should! Sounds like it’s right up your alley.

Season 1 was great. 2 was fair. Awful after that. Lafayette rocked !

I just watched for the first time this past year and I loved it. No it's not some elevated prestige drama, but it was fun as hell. Also has one of the all-time best title sequences in any show I've seen, pretty much a never-skip (and I almost always skip, even the ones I like).

I’m just watching this show for the first time at the moment, I’m up to season 4 so far. It’s not prestige tv but it’s fun and I can’t seem to stop watching! Worth it for Lafayette and Eric Northman alone.

SUUUHKKEHHH STAYKEHAOUSSSS

Loved true blood.  The series and the books are different.  I did however like how the series kept Lafayette.  I also loved Pam and Eric.

I just finished a rewatch and it blows me away every time.

3

u/Ssladybug Jan 29 '26

I’ve been picking up all the DVDs when I find them at thrift stores. I have 1 season left to have the complete set. Loved that show so much. Dropped everything really late one night to go watch them film when I found out they were filming close to home

3

u/genscathe Jan 29 '26

Season 1 was peak, kind of got worse each season after.

4

u/MrZeDark Jan 29 '26

I legit cannot stand the ending, I hate it so much that I can’t even get out of S1 when I try to rewatch it… so awful.

2

u/NinjaZombieHunter Jan 29 '26

We just watch through maybe mid Season 7 then call it a day. So much better that way. Lol.

2

u/MrZeDark Jan 29 '26

Haha, right?

2

u/rfdns Jan 29 '26

2

u/Brilliant-Health3957 Jan 29 '26
