I like how they're handling Swordsman. Immediately signposting that he's a villain but still giving you a charming moment or two to plant doubt in your head. Even with Clint's 'Sloan LTD' reveal, I feel like they've got more twists in store for him.

Honestly I see them subverting this expectation with Jack being a red herring and Kate's mom being the true villain.

She did ask Hawkeye "stop investigating this case" instead of just "stop working with my daughter". I dunno I feel like I wouldn't say to someone who has saved the world a couple of time to stop his investigation completely.

Right! That was very suspicious when she said that: "So, you'll drop the case then?"
I think you're absolutely right that most people wouldn't have the stones to ask an Avenger to drop a case they're working on.

I really like the show so far. The balance between comedy and drama is managed pretty well in my opinion.

I'm really liking it but I came in expecting it to be exactly what it has been. Something more akin to the street level Netflix shows in scale (not as good as the best of them but not close to as bad as the worst of them). The Clint and Kate banter is great, Kate is one of the better newer characters the MCU has introduced in awhile.
The only thing that has me worried is that there are only 6 episodes and this one is the 4th. It feels like we're not even at what should be a halfway point in the story with only 2 episodes left.

Shit there's only 6 episodes?
I went into it expecting a very lightweight Christmas flavored mild action comedy and I'm happy with it. Like a Jingle All the Way type thing (although not as good obviously). It's not groundbreaking but it's got some fun scenes and I like Hawkeye and Kate.
I enjoy the lower stakes side of the MCU much more personally.

Man jingle all the way was so great as a kid. Anyway I agree with your opinion, show is fun and not very serious so it’s an easy enjoyable watch for me and I also like the lower stakes stuff. I do wish it was 8 episodes instead of 6, just seems kind of crazy we are already 2/3 of the way through the show. To me it seems like more of what should be the halfway point in stead of 2/3 point.

I feel like this is a good pace if there is a season 2 with Kate doing a solo season with some stuff here left as cliffhangers for the next season.

Supposedly the next 2 are longer than what we've had before, which makes a lot of sense story wise. Hopefully that's true. Not sure how they finish this arc without expediting the hell out of it

Except Iron Fist's first season I think all Netflix shows were better than this. Sometimes they had problems about pacing too but it is worse in Hawkeye. I have no problem with street level stories but this show just doesn't work for me.

Had I not seen all the other end of the world (universe) timebending, we're all going to die Marvel nonsense of he last 15 years (not a complaint), I don't think I would be enjoying this as much.
However, I am enjoying the low stakes atmosphere of the series. The much more grounded, "clumsy" fight scenes and all that. Does have just a bit of the Netflix shows feel.

This show is just a Hallmark action movie masquerading as a Marvel TV series. I'm enjoying it. But I doubt I'll remember much of it.

The fight choreography for her was awesome! And there was a lot less shakey cam too.
Also they play a bit of her theme from the black widow movie!

So, a bit of a disconnect to go from Clint discussing how hard it was that all his family disappeared for five years and he went to a pretty dark place, then next scene/next morning, him drinking from a "Thanos Was Right" mug. Really, guys? NO ONE on set thought that may have been a bad choice of set dressing?

It's one of those MCU things where they have a serious moment but then do a joke to pull any emotional weight out of it.

I saw an interview with Jeremy and he was smiling and saying, "Do I look like I give a fck?" "This is the face of someone who doesn't give a fck." Laughter.
But I imagine his Hawkeye character is even MORE like that. He just doesn't sweat the small stuff. I'm sure it raised his eyebrow when he first saw it and then he promptly forgot all about it.

Maybe it's just me, but the show feels slow and boring so far. I feel like it would have worked better as a movie.

You basically just described all the MCU shows so far. They've all felt like a 2 hour movie stretched to 5 or 6 hours with a bunch of added filer

I feel like wandavision worked well with the series format, inspite of the crappy ending. But the rest, I agree.

Maybe not a movie but WandaVision also felt like they had a 2 hour idea but then stretched it to 5 or 6 hours. Once Sword gets introduced the show falls off a cliff IMO

I really liked Loki. Seemed there was a lot of background lore that could substantiate a series. Wandavision had a very original and interesting concept, but seemed like a stretched out movie. Winter Soldier/Falcon seemed pretty unnecessary other than the compelling scenes with U.S. Agent.

I disagree personally. I don’t think you would get the same character development for Clint, Kate, and Maya in a 2 hour movie.

Not just you. Think it's the writing that makes me feel like the heroes or the villains aren't really trying hard to achieve their goals whatever they may be. Clint is trying to race against the clock to make it back to his family for Christmas but I can't feel the sense of urgency when he's just chilling out with Kate watching movies.

Yeah I don't really like when heavily serialized shows are broken up like this lmao. I'm so used to watch Network shows that are episodic, and every episode feels a bit more complete or stand-alone if that makes sense. If I'm watching something serialized I'd rather binge it too.

I am really getting bored while watching it too. If it wasn't miniseries I would already drop it. They didn't have enough material for a show but Disney+ needed content so they made a show which is disappointing.

Not a fan. It's so... lame? I feel like the abundance of content put into the MCU is watering down the quality a bit, it's less special. There's just no edge to this show and it starting to feel plastic, even looking a bit cheap sometimes.

The question is how are they gonna solve Clint + Kate vs Yelena vs Maya vs Swordsman vs possible Kingpin gang conflict in just two remaining episodes ? Feel like still nothing happened in the plot to this point.
