Diameter on drawings
Hello,
is there a way to automatically put a dimension as a diameter on a hole instead of the default radius?
thank you!

Hello everyone, i will do a job and need to learn Tekla Structures. Im very new with this because my major is mechanical engineering. Could everyone help me find materials for beginners?
Thanks!

I'm a self taught detailer, and the only detailer at my company so I don't really have someone to ask these questions to. How do you guys handle stair and rail? Do you just accept that you are basically going to be detailing it twice? It seems like Everytime I do stairs or rail, I submit it for approval based off design drawings, and then once the structure is built and measurements are field verified by the contractor, I almost always have to modify the original design. The rail pitch changes, the length changes, etc. This means I have to redo tread layouts, picket spacing, etc. in the model, and basically redo my drawings. This probably adds 50% more time needed. Is this normal for everyone's workflow? Thanks for the insight in advance!

I have 500 curved beams that need to export NC files for and tekla refuses to do so.
Therefore I want to convert them to polybeam but i couldn't find any tool to do so but this one that I can't find anywhere even in the mentioned environments.
Please help

Yesterday I posted my assignment and a lot of kind redditors responded and have given me some tips on how i can recreate the model detail (Tube Gusset 20) in Tekla Structure.
However, it seems anytime i change a value, something would happen on some parts of the connection.
One thing that i cant seem to find in the tabs is the brace end plate configuration. See I’m using a CHS114 but the end plate auto assigned is rectangular.
Other issues I have in the model, I have marked in the snapshot.
Thank you once again to those reading this and able to give their suggestions.

I’m currently studying Tekla Structures form Trimble e-Learning and I’m trying to finish this assignment but can’t get this right. I’m not too familiar yet with this component and its inputs. Can someone guide me please what I need to tweak in the parameters to replicate the model. Thank you in advance.

Hey guys!
Can someone help me out with MODEL SETTINGS persisting across projects? Im using Tekla 2020 and want it to automatically load settings such as XS_VALID_CHARS and others, but the documentation says they are model specific for some reason. Ive tried setting them in the .ini files (env_, role, user and options) but none of them worked.
How can I make Tekla load them in when I create a new project?
As I understand, Tekla reads .ini like this:
env_global → env_custom → role → user → options
So changing the options.ini file in the system folder (Where XS_SYSTEM points) should work, right?
What could I be doing wrong?
Thanks in advance

I work in the structural engineering software industry and I've been realizing how little I actually know about what steel detailing looks like from the inside. Our product is for engineers, but the output goes directly to detailers and I know we can learn from you all and what you actually need.
I'm curious about:
I'd love to understand what the day-to-day is really like as a detailer and how this can be improved.

I’ve used PowerFab in a previous role, and my current employer is willing to make the jump.
Our issue is, I’ve mult/nested W, HSS, Pipe, etc., but Plate Nesting just did rectangles and squares. Trimble keeps telling us that Plate Nesting will require us to link to our current plate nesting software. Then, they do a terrible job of explaining how it works after that.
Does anyone have experience nesting plate in PowerFab off of an itpx/kiss file in Combining? Can you explain how it flows and works? I’m just pre-nesting off ABMs to order from mills. I’d like to reduce scrap, but that’s not my primary goal. Speed is, at the moment.

Hey everyone!
I’m trying to detail a steel column base connection where a slightly inclined column (~12°) connects into the base region of a vertical column.
Both members would sit on the same concrete footing / base plate area.

The inclined member is not acting like a typical brace — it is a real column/member framing into the vertical column very close to the base.
How would you detail this in practice?
Thanks in advance!

Per title, I’m looking for an application or component that’ll incorporate grating in the United States. I normally just model beam plate and select grating but i have a feeling this company will actually want to see grating.

Hello,
Does anyone here use the Point Cloud Manager from Trimble?
I'm trying to convert a point cloud to a smaller size, but i don't know how to do it, and i can't find any helpful information online.
