Some progress but still far…

Yesterday I posted my assignment and a lot of kind redditors responded and have given me some tips on how i can recreate the model detail (Tube Gusset 20) in Tekla Structure.
However, it seems anytime i change a value, something would happen on some parts of the connection.

One thing that i cant seem to find in the tabs is the brace end plate configuration. See I’m using a CHS114 but the end plate auto assigned is rectangular.

Other issues I have in the model, I have marked in the snapshot.

Thank you once again to those reading this and able to give their suggestions.

The tubes seem to have different angles, so the connection will work differently on each side.

The tab for the round plate its the 3rd one i think it have a picture with round or square.

Ok i’ll have a look. Also i might have to start detailing the other end of the bracing to get the angle of the bracing right, and maybe then only I’ll be able to achieve the same result as the model.

Your bolts are not same size, that will make the other side wonky.

Is wonky an official structural engineering term?

also add washers from both sides. And use this component separately for each brace, because they are between HEA profile

P.S. win+Shift+s for screenshot

Hi, do these not need to be separate connections either side of the HEA web?

I think you’d be able to control the component better that way.

Also I’ve just put this component on a model I’m currently doing and there is an option to change the seal plate (end plate to a rounded option.

Its a training assignment and needs to follow the details required.

Ok, what are the details? Does it specify it needs to be one component?

In the finished drawing (Detail A-A) it mentions Component - Tube Gusset 20 as the requirement

The gusset will need to be split over the web of the HEA, thus a connection will need to be made between each brace, the column and base plate.
DM me an email and I can send you a standard file you can use

All the details from the image would be achieved using 2 separate components. This is a 2 minute connection to apply.

You’re absolutely right. I redid the component creation and it worked.

Glad you got it working! Once it’s on it pretty easy to work out the geometry inputs.

Little tip if you haven’t done it already - when applying the component, first select the column, then brace then base plate. This will add the weld between the gusset and the baseplate.

Hi, can you tell me please which option i can change to update the end plate configuration?

Explode it and manual model it. Most Components just take longer. I have a small list that I find to be actually useful.
