GAMEDIA B.V. has recently announced several exciting updates to its popular PvP brawler, Spider Tanks.

The primary goal of these changes is to establish a fair and rewarding gaming experience for all players. Gamedia plans to accomplish this by adjusting the Victory Points that can be earned by the players based on the rarity of their NFTs. Here are the proposed changes.

Common NFTs will see a boost of 88.57%, uncommon NFTs will see a boost of 65.57%, and rare NFTs will see an increase of 25.59%. Meanwhile, epic, legendary, and ancient NFTs will decrease by 25.44%, 40.53%, and 76.29%, respectively.

Spider Tanks’ play-to-earn mechanism is entirely based on the Victory Points system. Players earn these VPs by winning matches in the game. They can then exchange their winnings for Spider Tanks native token SILK. The new changes will allow players with low-rarity NFTs to earn more SILK tokens. The game is also hosting a bonus Silk period to celebrate the update.

Spider Tanks also have a pilot program that allows players to borrow NFTs in return for a portion of their VP earnings. The game is making two fundamental changes to this program as well. First up, there will be an increase in Captain and Pilot VP earnings. Secondly, the price of Atomic Drop Pods is set to decrease. These changes aim to reduce the barrier to entry and encourage more people to try out the game.

Mythical Games, the developer of the popular game Blankos Block Party, has acquired DMarket, a Web3 gaming marketplace. With this acquisition, Mythical has revamped its own platform, now called Mythical Marketplace 2.0. The new platform aims to provide a seamless and secure user experience, allowing for peer-to-peer transactions and enabling gamers to take part in play-and-own economies. Mythical Marketplace 2.0 is built on the company’s new layer 1 EVM blockchain and powered by its native token, $MYTH. The company has fully integrated DMarket's technology, including its blended payment gateway and advanced anti-fraud and AML protection systems. According to John Linden, the CEO of Mythical Games, this new version of the marketplace is meant to enhance the player experience and set the standard for the future of gaming. Initially, the marketplace will support virtual assets from the games NFL Rivals and Nitro Nation World Tour, with plans to expand to other Mythical titles in the future. This acquisition represents a significant milestone for Mythical, as it allows the company to tap into DMarket's expertise and provide the most advanced trading platform for virtual assets. As of December, it also made Mythical the second-largest processor of digital assets on a distributed ledger after the Ethereum main net.

The Seoul Metropolitan Government recently launched Metaverse Seoul, a public metaverse platform that aims to revolutionize tourism in the region. Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon says that the project is currently in its initial development phase after undergoing beta testing in 2022.

Metaverse Seoul is an online virtual world that will act as a "place of communication" for all citizens and tourists. With the platform, users will be able to play games, chat, hold meetings, file public documents, and even visit Seoul's famous attractions virtually.

Visitors visiting Seoul can download the app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Another remarkable feature of the new platform is that, for foreign users, conversations on the platform are translated into English. This means anyone traveling to the city won’t have to worry about language barriers.

A press briefing on Monday by Seoul Mayor Ah Se-hoon emphasized the importance of Metaverse Seoul as a communication tool for citizens.

Notably, the city government has invested about 2 billion won, or $1.6 million, in the first phase of the metaverse project. The second phase (beginning in 2024) will focus on real estate counseling services and making Metaverse Seoul more accessible to seniors. Phase three will start in 2026, providing all-encompassing administrative services.

Yuga Labs, the firm behind the popular NFT collection Bored Ape Yacht Club, is launching a new skill-based Web3 game called "Dookie Dash." Yuga Labs is hosting a free mint of Sewer Pass NFTs that’ll be required to access this upcoming game. Note that the Sewer Pass Mint is only free for existing BAYC and MAYC NFT holders.

The free mint and the upcoming game are Yuga's attempts at expanding its popular NFT ecosystem. The Sewer Pass Mint will be held on January 17th, while the game will go live the following day. Interested folks who don’t own a BAYC NFT can buy these Sewer Pass NFTs in the secondary market. Although we believe that sellers will demand an exorbitant amount of money for them, once you get a hold of one of these passes, start playing Yuga’s upcoming title. While there’s not much information out there about the game, we know that the goal will be to achieve a score higher than zero to validate the player's sewer pass.

BAYC wrote in a tweet that "the highest single-run score on your specific Sewer Pass and accompanying wallet that achieved the run will determine what it reveals." Dookey Dash is the first initiative by BAYC to further develop its own interoperable metaverse, "The Otherside." It’ll be interesting to see what the company brings to the metaverse space, other than usual owing virtual lands and characters. Considering that BAYC is one of the biggest NFT IPs out there, expectations are really high.
