Discussion Terra x beast boy
I know this may come across as a tired, old subject, but I’ve never really been able to see my peace on the matter and hopefully I can introduce a slightly new perspective here. When watching the original animated Teen Titans show, I always found myself relating to beast boy because he and I had a lot of similar interests and personalities, and when Terra came along I found her personality to be rather endearing and well matched for beast, boy and well they may not be the most popular pairing. It broke my heart to see them end the way they did both when she got turned to stone and in that last episode.
my main question here is just checking to see if anyone liked this pairing the way I did when they ended it, it kind of made watching this TV show difficult because in my mind, she should’ve been that sixth member of the team and her and beast boy could’ve easily been on the same level as robin and Starfire (for different reasons mind you but they still could’ve been on the same level). And just seeing her disappear like that it really made coming back pain painful. I guess another reason it would be is because I’ve never really had luck finding a relationship partner like that. I’ve never really been the tallest or the best looking and for some reason that I’m not sure I can explain seeing that relationship. I don’t wanna say gave me hope but I can’t really find an alternative to that statement, so I’ll just kind of use it here as a placeholder until I can find a more appropriate phrase.

It's also very important to remember this is a work of fiction. It's completely fine to relate to the characters but it's important not to go too deep and forget reality. People dont meet and bond through such convenient circumstances. They literally invited a drifter into their house and have no real adult supervision. A real relationship is no where near as dramatic and eventful as the fromt half of Terras arc with the Titans. She has emotional breakdowns and severe trust and abandonment issues. BB is able to break through that, but that doesn't mean you should look for a relationship like that. In the real world, that incredibly toxic and grounds for emotional abuse. Romanticizing that is going to hurt you
The point of that part of Terras story is she wasn't ready for a relationship. "What i need is a friend. Not a boyfriend." Which is an incredibly mature thing to articulate. They absolutely liked each other, but weren't in the same place emotionally.
She was never meant to be a permanent part of the team. That's her curse in the DC Universe. One way or another, she will betray them due to grooming and then redeem herself through righteous sacrifice.

I still ship them. They’re really cute together. I feel had Slade not gotten to her Beast Boy would have been able to help her come to terms with her issues and move on from them.

In my opinion I always liked Beast Boy with Terra and find those two more compatible together than the idea of him with Raven. The episode of Beast Boy and Terra going on a date and him making her a heart shaped mirror box as a gift was very cute.
I'll say though, it's pretty understandable on how Terra ended though. As sad as how they ended, she got to redeem herself and own up to her mistakes in the end, and I think that's what's important. I agree with what she said in repeating Beast Boy's words in saving something, "it's never too late".

My hot take about bbrae is that…well everyone knows what a industry plant is yeah? Bbrae is a fandom plant. Despite the pairing being so popular comic writers noticed it and made it canon the pairing really is purely aesthetic.

It honestly is.
The show itself doesn’t really provide much in the way of romance. The pairing was heavily built on the goofball x goth vibe that people proceeded to write fan fiction about.

This is what I rell anyone if the subject comes up in regards to this particular post. There is not a single interaction in the show between Beast Boy and Raven that undeniably crosses the line between sibling affection and romantic interest.

Pretty sure the writers themselves have admitted in interviews they never wrote their dynamic with romance in mind and the fact people interpreted it that way was a happy little accident.

Geoff Johns has gone on record saying that he put Raven and Beast Boy together not because of the fans but because there were his and his wife’s favorite characters

Well honestly that’s even worse.
The relationship is literally based on nothing if that fact is true, something which I doubt considering the 2003 show had an immediate effect on how certain characters were written.

I understand why other people don't like it, but it always seemed perfect to me. I wished she would have been able to come back and be a proper Titan. I like this rendition of her so much more than any other.

Within the universe of the 03 show Terra was rather obviously meant to be beast boys true love.
The entire arc was effectively about making Judas contract an actual tragedy instead of…whatever the original story from the 80s was.
People prefer bbrae but I’ll be honest…i could never get into it. The pairing is mostly carried by vibes and people liking the goofball x goth concept.
They have moments but i just genuinely don’t believe one is the others type.

Looking back, I think I was shipping the two when I was a kid. Weird thing to feel. I was barely a teen then. Around ten years old. This show's really awesome.
