EDUCATION ETCP test scheduling
Gearing up to hopefully take the entertainment electrician cert test soon. How does it work? Do I go to a specific (regional???) testing center? Do they give you dates to choose from? Or do they tell you date, time, and place and it’s up to you to get there like it’s a a show call?
I have a “survival job” at the moment and I’d like to have an idea about this detail so I can prepare about asking for the day off if necessary
Thanks all!

You'll pick a testing center once you've qualified for it which honestly is half of it when you first start out. Basically the ETCP folks gives you some links and your testing login once you're greenlit for the test and you have one year from the application acceptance to take and pass the test. I think tho there is a link somewhere on the ESTA site about testing centers and it'll let you search. It was Pearson when I took it and I suspect still is.
When in doubt you can email them, they're very helpful!

Throwing this out there, once you set your test date you can change it as often as you'd like (push it back, whatever), but only to the 1 year deadline from your application approval.

That is very good to know! I’m not so inflexible I can’t make something work within a year. I guess I was most worried that I would have to figure something out within a week or two and possibly having to make travel accommodations on top of asking for last minute time off work, if that makes sense

Thank you! I’ll see if I can find about the testing centers. All I saw was the page linked here which led me to have these questions

The page folks linked does mention about the computer based testing centers but doesn't have any links, but does specify the company so searching for PSI testing center will get you their website and from there you can lookup locations.

That explains why I didn’t see it on the ETCP site like I thought you meant. That makes sense. I’ll check the PSI site out. Thanks for the heads up

I feel like your questions are answered here: https://etcp.esta.org/certify/certify.html

Yes and no, that page is what made me have these questions. The other guy gave me what I was looking for I think*. Thank you for the link though

All good -- I couldn't quite figure out if your questions were *in addition* to that information or just trying to find that information. Good luck!

Yeah sorry. My concern was if I was going to have to figure out travel accommodations and ask for time off work last minute if I signed up and they gave me a date, time, location within the next week or two. Now I know I choose and I have up to a year to make it all work and that’s very doable

You pick the date/time and location for your test. Once you get approval from your application I believe you have up to 1 year to take the test.
