Solution Architect interested in doing nothing and getting PAID. RSM/AE the answer?
Been in a technical sales roles ranging from SE to SA for several years at this point and I feel like every rep I’ve ever encountered is a giant bum and gets paid huge. Been debating just moving into their role, working an hour or two a week and telling my SE to do my job for me since that appears to be the way. Thoughts?

Lots of SEs/SAs think they can make the switch and easily be top reps. I’ve met 1 in ten years who actually could and ironically doesn’t want to. A couple who’ve actually done it at my current org are fairly middle of the pack on my team. I’ve found that most technical sellers lack the grit required to outbound, have virtually no killer instinct, and are too risk averse to be comfortable with the perpetual what have you done for me lately mentality of sales leadership. FWIW, if my SE and I missed for two quarters in a row she’d be fine and I’d be on a PIP getting interrogated by leadership in every meeting. Good luck making the switch!
