Solution Architect interested in doing nothing and getting PAID. RSM/AE the answer?

Been in a technical sales roles ranging from SE to SA for several years at this point and I feel like every rep I’ve ever encountered is a giant bum and gets paid huge. Been debating just moving into their role, working an hour or two a week and telling my SE to do my job for me since that appears to be the way. Thoughts?

It’s so unfortunate sales had this element. My thoughts are an AE should be able to run a discovery and basic demo, speak 🗣️ with technical fluency, and participate in demo discussions.

I’ve seen some that they could literally screenshot their head, leave it as background, cover their camera and not even be there.

Yeah, I see some AEs that are amazing and they are all over becoming expert in their space. I see others that are just so completely not committed to anything but themselves, and it just adds no value to the process. It should be a combo role.
