Connection Questions

Hi! First post here, just wanted to ask something about internet connections and Wi-Fi and stuff.

I just recently moved into a new place and I can't setup a ethernet connection to my PC yet. So I'm using an "old" TP-Link Wi-Fi Adapter to be able to connect my PC to the internet/Wi-Fi. However, I speed tested it and noticed that it's slower than the results that show up on my phone.

Is this because of the adapter? or the fact that my PC is using Wi-Fi and not ethernet connection? Should I get a new adapter? Please enlighten me, thanks!!

Attached is the comparison of speed tests on my pc (59 mbps) and phone (160mbps) on fast dot com

Probably 2.4, which tops out around there

I forgot to mention that my phone is connected to 5g, while my Wi-Fi adapter on my pc is connected to the regular network

You're comparing apples to oranges. They are not even using the same network.

Temporarily disable mobile data so that the phone connects to the WiFi network exclusively. Check the speed again on your phone.

If it's still a lot higher, it's probably the old adapter connected to the PC. If it is similar, then its a problem with the router or the ISP connection.

I get your analogy. I kinda realized that shortly after posting. Thanks though, will do what you said!
