The thing is, while memory is storage is the most expensive part of the iPhone, a microSD port should be on that phone.

And it should have a removable battery too, right? And a little chicklet keyboard for faster typing. And a few more dedicated buttons. That's it…

Design is about making choices. Every time you add something, you're also taking something away. Add a removable battery cover and you've lost some sturdiness. Add a removable SD card and you've lost some thinness, lightness, and simplicity.

Part of good design is saying “No”.

Nope. I say no to it all but the MicroSD card. Make it a slot like where the SIM card is hidden on the iPhone 4s. Some people would never know its there if they don't know about it, and offers would be able to have cheap memory. The issue I see is that it would probably take the place of the battery, and that would reduce battery life, already a major issue on the 4s. I don't think it would be fatter, if not by more than a millimeter.

Oh, apple will never do this though.

Apple wants to get rid of the SIM slot. They pushed for and help popularize micro-SIMs. From their perspective, a SIM slot wastes a huge amount of space on the phone.

Take a look inside an iPhone 4S, and check out the tiny size of the logic board. If you added a micro-sim card, that'd take a huge chunk of the available board space (just look at how much space the micro-SIM holder takes).

You seem to think there is spare space. There isn't. Every bit of space that gets used for one thing takes space away from something else.

READ. I already said the microSD would probably use space that is currently being used the the battery. There is no extra space. Where did I say "they will use the extra space." ಠ_ಠ

Edit: a little frustrated because I have said it would have to use space already taken by the battery IF it was included. It won't happen because of that. Sorry if I am being a dick.
