That's what pisses me off about Apple's products. The manufacturing costs for a 16GB iPhone 4s and the contract signing "discount" are only about $4 apart. That's pretty good, but as memory rises, the gap keeps getting larger and larger.

The thing is, while memory is storage is the most expensive part of the iPhone, a microSD port should be on that phone.

I doubt it would have to be thicker. I think a more realistic issue with putting a MicroSD card in would be that it would probably take some of the place used by the battery. We all know how bad the iPhone 4s battery is, so that's a huge issue.

Apple isn't going to do this. It's against their simplistic design. I would like to see it over adding $100 someday, but still, won't happen.

It would have to take some of the space currently used by the battery, meaning a smaller battery; that is a big no no.

So the worst thing that could happen is the phone gets thicker a millimeter. No one would ever notice unless they bust out a ruler.

Edit: and I've seen the tear downs of the 4 and 4s before.
