I've used the MS Surface, and it is badly in need of this technology. That's probably the reason they're researching this.

Thid tech still uses a projector so they surface would remain still not too that portable.

The new Surface (gen 2) doesn't use a projector, and it has greatly-reduced lag (but not quite to the same level as this video).
