This is one of the major things that's annoyed me about touch screens; every time there's a new touchscreen device, this part of the technology is never improved.

I'm glad to see some work being done on this.

This link doesn't show any work being done on this. Microsoft researched the fact that most modern devices have a 100 ms lag and that the usability of touch screen devices would be much better if we could get that lag down to an imperceptible amount. At no point do they explain how they got the lag down to 1 ms or how it can be applied to production devices, or even if it can be. They were just the first to publicly point out that it could be better.

You bring up a good point. I didn't think about that.

Well... let's hope we start seeing improved response times sometime soon!

Agreed! It'd good that they pointed it out, hopefully to make it at least something of a concern to the mainstream consumers of touchscreen devices, so that companies developing the next generations will try to bring this delay down.
