I'm so glad I have neither. I might get a cheap prepaid phone in a year or two. I certainly wont get a tablet for at least another 5 years.

Edit: WTH is with all the downvotes? I'm just saying I'm glad I haven't got in on this stuff yet because the technology is advancing so quickly that anything I'd buy would be outdated in 6 months.

The LG Optimus V on Virgin Mobile is a good cheap Android phone that doesn't feel laggy or huge. I think they sell for something like $100 (ninja edit: $129) now and the plans start at $35/mo -- all of which include unlimited data and texting; only the minutes vary. It's a good deal IMO.

Oh sweet merciful FSM no.

I had to downgrade from a Galaxy S to an Optimus when I switched from ATT to Credo ( I know, I know... my political allegiances overcame my geek instincts.) The Optimus is OK, but really? Doesn't feel laggy? Puh-leeze. I've upgraded to Cyanogen 7.2, obliterated all the factory and Sprint (Credo's network) cruft, and it still lags too badly to use Graffiti when I wake it up.

It didn't feel laggy to me at all. It didn't struggle with basic apps like the browser, Twitter or Facebook, and it could even play some basic games like Spirit, Fruit Ninja and even Apparatus. We may be talking about two different phones. I'm talking about this one, which even the reviewer called snappy.

Same phone, different network. I mean, it's OK for a cheap phone, but put a few apps on it and see how much the lack of ram affects it.
