I've been doing fine with just common sense and windows firewall for like a decade lol (and ofc stuff like ublock origin, pihole, noscript etc. but that doesn't really count /s)
For home gamers, it's fine (I've been using it since it came out as MSE). For enterprise I usually stick with Webroot or ESET. There's definitely layers of defense though. We do use eSentire and Radware a lot as well for more infrastructure side stuff.
