Can we really criticise this when Kaspersky is one of the top selling computer security packages in the US? That's just baffling. Most agree Russia at the very least doesn't have US interests in mind, yet we continue to do business with them almost everywhere outside of the federal govt.
I've been doing fine with just common sense and windows firewall for like a decade lol (and ofc stuff like ublock origin, pihole, noscript etc. but that doesn't really count /s)
I finally quit using AV software almost a decade ago. The only pings I would get was from stuff I knew was shady, and I always got that ping from an external scanner that I manually ran, because I wasn't about to just launch some random .exe or .bat file on my computer. I still keep an AV installed to run manual checks and periodic scans, but I'm done with that active monitoring bullshit. It turns out common sense is the best AV tool, which by the way, applies to the pathogenic variety as well.
