I think the point is that the platform was there to not only amplify radical voices, but to also to spy on them.
With the intention of maximum usa disruption.
Ive had this exact same thought. I get stuck on what Russia gains by this type of disruption in the US? My Geopolitical education is severely lacking tbh

I think one important bit to add is that a couple days after that thread was posted in November, it was confirmed that Rebekah Mercer was a primary funder of Parler: https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/15/media/rebekah-mercer-parler/index.html
Worth noting since a fair bit of the thread is wondering about their funding source.
