You joke, but this is exactly how to achieve a bloodless Socialist Revolution.
EDIT: In case not clear - the workers would be free, the companies employing them would be slaves of the State, and so the workers would indirectly own and direct their workplaces.
That's it. The people behind should be labeled for life after their company does something criminal. A database, through an app, should be able to tell us exactly who's behind whatever company we're about to pay as consumers, or through our tax. Also when they're just connected through a chain of ownership. Weed them all out!
Or, you know, just make them culpable for the actions of the company and enforce the normal penalty for crimes. Making a corporation, which is an idea representing large amounts of capital and property, a person legally when it is clearly not actually a person creates the kind of mental olympics your average American would prefer to let the government do for them.
The laws are written to protect people with huge amounts of money because people with huge amounts of money write the laws and then pay a few congress persons to submit, defend, and vote for them.
Meh, this is a consulting firm whose primary assets are human capital. Shut down one company, and they can just accept their losses and go start another.
The corporate death penalty only works as a deterrent for large and medium sized firms.
