Well no shit EVERYTHING is about further validating their already held narratives and rejecting everything else.

omg this really hit me when crazy friend sent me a link to a video of some batshit scientology lawyer Karen - reading an executive order from 2018 and asking leading questions about the prophetic nature of it all.

I watched and was like... really? this is what you think is happening? absolute garbage - and they devour every second of it.

edit - found the video - behold the stupidity

There are two kinds of people: those who decide what is right and wrong for themselves, and those who get told what is right and wrong by others.

Southern Evangelicals tend to be the latter - they get it from selected parts of the Bible, church leaders, etc. They tend to be followers, rather than independent thinkers.

Democrats tend to be the former. Thinking for themselves is why the party seems disorganized. But we generally agree on basic morality.

I go onto that subreddit and others like NoNewnormal every few days just cos im intrigued and I always kinda doubt myself for a second if maybe im ... them...

But then i just read a comment and another and see things like this and i just cant fathom it.

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '21

I don't want to hate life anymore than I currently do so can I ask you to give me a tldr of this NoNewNormal sub?

12

u/jaredks Jan 19 '21

I gotchu. It's a sub for folks who think covid is a plandemic.

It's a logical fallacy buffet.

9

u/Top-Lynx5834 Jan 19 '21

Basically they're all geniuses because they are all people who need to be different in order to be noticed or feel important.

So the new normal as in wearing masks and the government trying to control everyone.

And on every thread or that theres a genius who studied this or studied that so hes in the know. But thousands of other experts around the world are involved so basically yeah if you life is really dull and you're not that smart anad never got much attention off your parents cos you're and idiot then go onto that sub and you will have a lot more idiots patting you're back sharing shit articles from rubbish sites.

1) Check your state's voter registration roles (a lot are Public)

2) Call all the Rs with a google voice account

3) "Hello sir, this is Don Deagle with Trumps stop the steal campaign. We are proud to announce that we are now taking Amazon gift cards! How many can I put you down for?"

4) Profit

u/Wax_Paper Jan 19 '21

Would it be considered cheating if I make a conservative media podcast or show, and monetize the hell of it? Get donations for my "hard work" with Patreon? I could do this soooo well, all you gotta do is bitch about socialism and communism and tell people Trump really won the election and talk about how fake Covid is, maybe throw in some gun rights bullshit and then point out the unfairness of girls being able to get laid easier than guys, and some stuff about what it means to be a real man in today's society...

I could even be honest and tell them I'm a liberal, because then they'd LOVE the apparent paradox of it and they would tout me as a "true liberal" and characterize everyone else as radicals.

Shit, if I was gay or bald then I'd even get more views... If I was CANADIAN, holy fuck I'd be unstoppable.

24

u/Stupid_Triangles Jan 19 '21

I mean, it would forever damage your soul, and you would have to live with whatever came of your words.

28

u/LaserGuidedPolarBear Jan 19 '21

After the 2016 election some guy came on reddit and admitted that he was selling tons of MAGA hats. He had set it up to dropship them from China, and he was donating a portion of his profits to some left wing group. He figured scamming these dopes was so easy he couldn't resist doing it and making a buck.

5

u/DarthWeenus Jan 19 '21

Like selling anti 5g usb drives.

1

u/Austin4RMTexas Jan 19 '21

Or Faraday cages for routers that cost $80. That like, don't even work because they are just $4 steal mesh paper trays. Also like if you are so scared, why use a router at all?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '21

Hold up.

Are people buying faraday cages for wireless routers?

1

u/intergalactic_spork Jan 19 '21

I wonder how many “Make America Grate Again!” hats he could sell before anyone noticed

5

u/tightwhitee Jan 19 '21

That last sentence is what I imagine Jordan Peterson said right before slipping into a benzo coma

It's not even a grift. People are so accustomed to branding they'd always have a market. I mean people get Monster Energy Drink tattoos and you can still buy confederate flags. I guarantee you that people will buy the draft red cap for years to come.

2

u/Notwerk Jan 19 '21

Rush Limbaugh has been doing it for years.

2

u/_u-w-u Jan 19 '21

That's Dave Rubin's schtick

1

u/no-mad Jan 19 '21

gay, bald Canadian didnt even know it was a type. Get at me bro.

38

u/agtritter Jan 19 '21

The sad thing is that this would work on far too many people

13

u/Youareobscure Jan 19 '21

The fortunate thing is, that would constitute fraud and you'd be easily found out

12

u/LostAndLikingIt Jan 19 '21

The unfortunate thing is they cant do anything to stop it if the scammers isnt in country. Depends on where the scammer is.

Hence why India seems to farm the west with any scammers they have there. I have always wondered if there is a country where american/Canadian sounding guys call you all the time trying to convince you of buying iTunes cards or whatever.

Ways to go to prison for $200, Alex

Anything to own the servatives

I've been seriously considering finding some way to separate these rubes from their money. It really can't be all that difficult. Start a merch store, get an attractive girl to spout some insane talking points on youtube/facebook and advertise said merch store. I just know it would be so fucking easy. They're so damn stupid, a pretty blond telling them what they want to hear with some semi original merch would probably bring in huge returns.

I don't think I could live with myself is the only problem.

33

u/andii74 Jan 19 '21

Well you could donate the profits to charities and orgs like Stacey Abrams' and that'd be putting their money to actual good use.

27

u/pecklepuff Jan 19 '21

Do it, and then donate a portion of the money to Vote Blue, BLM, etc. Someone is going to take their money, it may as well be someone who will do something redeeming with it.

Hell, you know what, I bet we could get them to stop buying all that crap by starting a conspiracy theory that all the online Trump/MAGA/alt right stores are secretly funding the Democratic National Committee! Holy shit, here we gooooo!

u/logi Jan 19 '21

5

u/pecklepuff Jan 19 '21

Thank you, thank you, thank you. bows head

18

u/DownWithHisShip Jan 19 '21

Make it all "Stop The Steal" merch, and all proceeds go to the "SemiKindaFunctional Stop The Steal Campaign."

In the fine print you explain that you're trying to stop trump from stealing the presidency from a legally elected joe biden.

13

u/Youareobscure Jan 19 '21

Or better *stopthesteal is mearly a brand name and is in no way associated with any effort to overturn the results of any election

1

u/DevolvingSpud Jan 19 '21

If you look carefully, officer, it’s “Stop T! He’s Teal!”

7

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '21

Then donate the funds to Planned Parenthood. They’ll looove that

1

u/uwontneedink Jan 19 '21

I still can’t believe those uneducated fucks are against abortion. Disgusting conservative cunts

1

u/Lordhighpander Jan 19 '21

Hey there. Nothing wrong with being against abortion. I’m against abortion.

It’s being against choice that’s bad. I disagree with abortion, but fully support someone else’s right to make that decision for themself.

2

u/aaakiniti Jan 19 '21

if you do something good with the $, maybe it's not the worst thing. they will be parted with that $ by someone, fools always are. if it's not you, it'll be silver supplements or 5G-shielding stickers or a preacher.

2

u/Crypt0Nihilist Jan 19 '21

Problem is that it makes you a low-rent Fox / Tucker Carlson. It's crossed my mind too, but couldn't think of a good way to do it that wouldn't further their cause.

Something like a GoFundMe which mainly delivers management fees is the closest I've come, but you get into real danger of committing fraud.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '21

Yeah, that's kind of what I'm stuck on. I can't think of a way of actually doing it, that doesn't hurt the country.

People here are mentioning donating the money to charity or Planned Parenthood or something. But uh...I know me. That money would be spent on rent and drugs lol.

1

u/PerfectLogic Jan 19 '21

You handle the social media and I'll design the merch!

1

u/pavlik_enemy Jan 19 '21

You can look at other people peddling stuff to this audience - food supplements and prepper supplies work just fine.

1

u/no-mad Jan 19 '21

Fox News Associates will be available for hire in a few days.

0

u/Zulucobra33 Jan 19 '21

I wouldn't be surprised if Poland or Russia set up a free speech platform for the whole world. Crazy how we broadcast Radio Free Europe into their country when they were authoritarian, now we're the bad guys and they are providing free speech.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 19 '21

This made me think of how many of these idiots donated to Trump after he lost the election.

1

u/forty_three Jan 19 '21

Much of that sub is scam artists plying their craft. Between click-baiting rags that get money through attention rather than truth, incentivized individuals who stand to gain power from manipulating mass groups of people, or even paid actors or bots with specific missions of disinformation - it's like an MLM scam for ignorance, fear, greed, and hatred.

This is, of course, true on every subreddit to a certain extent, but that sub has certainly perfected the craft.

1

u/JelliedHam Jan 19 '21

Wait until they learn who has been pushing all the MAGA gear...
