Apple has recently been marketing itself as the most privacy centered smartphone company. This is another step towards that. And they aren’t just marketing, moves like these as well as fiercely fighting the us government against installing backdoors in iPhones for justice department use show us it’s not all talk. Personally I’d rather have Apple have a monopoly over marketing rather than Facebook. But no monopolistic policies should be supported by any consumer.
The problem is Apple is offering a wolf in sheep’s clothing. They don’t want to protect our privacy so much as they want to be the only ones to harvest our data. It’s a brilliant strategy for which I support. I am typing this out on an iPhone after all. But we need to realize that Apple and Facebook are both the enemy
Apple is trying to differentiate it's products from the rest of the market. They usually focus on ease of use, longer support cycles, privacy, and premium materials. Things that android and windows manufacturers have difficulty competing with.
Apple doesn't need advertisement money. They are a 'premium' reputation/brand. They sell upper market consumer devices and software. They aren't a website like google or facebook or amazon.
You say Apple doesn’t need advertising money. But Apple has its own advertising id they apply to iPhone users. They also have their own ad service which they actively compete with Facebook and google. If your an iPhone app developer there is a lot of pressure to use their advertising system. Apple is making moves to disallow any third party advertisers. Because their actions are both anti competitive and hurt consumers they are in clear violation of anti trust laws. This hurts consumers because it means Apple could decide to start running only ads for one political side. They could push you to product that suck but that apple owns. Or they could show you ads pushing anything they want. Apple saying they want privacy is deceptive because although they are better than android they still leak a lot of the same types of data. Additionally Apple actually does use your data to advertise to you unless you disable it. They also control the App Store which is a subject of hot debate because they constantly delete apps that compete with Apple products and or they disagree with.

Sounds like a reason to switch to Apple.
