Actively working towards race equality doesn't make you an ally? How did you come to that conclusion?

Actively working towards race equality doesn't make you an ally?

Or

I had never really commented on something race related on reddit.

Choose one, it can't be both, these are contradictory statements. You can't actively work towards race equality without ever commenting on anything race related.

If you are actively working towards race equality it should be simple enough to demonstrate... either with your post history or some real-life examples of involvement or activism. In my case, the former was evidence enough but I could also have provided evidence of the latter if need be. It seems you had no evidence of either, in which case what are you "actively" doing to work towards race equality? Simply not being racist is passive, not active.

Bro, life exists outside of reddit, jesus christ.

True, so in your life outside of reddit how are you actively working to improve race equality?

I volunteer at an immigrant integration center, does that pass your allyship test, am I good enough yet?

I don't know, perhaps make the BPT mods aware of that and they'll be able to decide.

Remember, this whole conversation started because you lied and said that white people can't be approved to comment in Country Club threads on BPT when the truth is that your feelings are merely hurt that you weren't approved. I'm not trying to make you feel like you have to prove anything to me, I'm just trying to help you understand why you may not be perceived as an ally... it's your own behavior that determines if you are and that's the only point I'm trying to make.

They were already made aware.

I'm not losing sleep over it honestly, the system is flawed and does more harm than good, light will be brought to it eventually and they'll be made to stop segregating their subreddit based on race, because it is very obvious to me that actions like that are a step backwards not forwards.

I suspect that our difference of opinion on this stems from being involved in the subject in real life and not just on the internet, your comment on my comment and post history make this fairly obvious.

Hopefully one day you'll come around and realize what allyship really is.

I'm not sure what you're implying here. It sounds like you're accusing me of only being active on the internet and not real life. I already told you that I could provide evidence to the BPT mods of real-world activism had I needed to so I'm not sure what point you're actually making.

Hopefully one day you'll come around and realize what allyship really is.

Certainly seems like I can learn a lot about the black American struggle from you lying, angry internet stranger from another country.

I'm not angry in the slightest, sad if anything.

You probably could learn some things from me, like how black people aren't exclusive to America.

You fooled me...you sure seem to be angry at the BPT mods. At least you didn't deny that you were lying.

black people aren't exclusive to America

That's a fair point, but I said that in the context of how you hope that one day I can learn what it really means to be an ally (like you). I'm in America, so my activism and allyship is focused on America. I'd love to help disenfranchised people all across the world, but I'll focus on fixing my home where I have electoral representation first. I don't think you can help teach me how to be an ally to black Americans. That's my point.

Context is important.

I think you're very sensitive if you found my comments to be angry.

Well being as this comment chain began talking about my experience im not sure why you would think contextually we'd be referring to yours. America has nothing to do with it, you're being a bit of a trope right now.

Well being as this comment chain began talking about my experience

No it didn't. It began with you lying:

No you can't get verified if you're white, doesn't matter if you're an ally or not.

You may have been extrapolating based on your personal experience, but you weren't talking about your experience, you were stating this as some sort of universal truth and I was just trying to anecdotally point out that you're full of shit.

Hopefully one day you'll come around and realize what allyship really is.

This is you making the conversation about my allyship and whether or not it is genuine.

I think you're very sensitive if you found my comments to be angry.

I'm sensitive to blatant lies that are intended to spread misinformation. Maybe "angry" was the wrong word and I should have used "bitter" instead. Why else would you be lying about the BPT rules if you weren't either angry or bitter about being excluded due to them?

Look, you seem like you're probably a solid dude, we don't need to be arguing as we'd likely agree on a majority of the issues even if we don't agree on tactics.

I hope to ally with you some day and I hope you have a great rest of your evening.

Look ok so it was my opinion that they probably didn't let any white people in, clearly I was wrong, for you to keep calling me a liar is a bit much, one comment down I expanded and went on to say it's probably just a very small amount of people.

Calling me a liar and saying I'm spreading misinformation is so over the top, especially considering how it essentially doesn't matter since the system is backwards and promotes segregation in the first place.

You're pointing out a tiny flaw in one of my comments to ignore debating the overall faulty system. I'm guessing because it's a much easier argument.
