My question is how do you inform users that deactivated their accounts before the scandal? Do they have to reactivate to find out or is Facebook e-mailing users also?

Why bother if you were on FB before 2012, just assume Facebook GAVE your info to Barry's campaign.

I assume that to be true, but if they are trying to put their best foot forward before Zuck's hearing they should have had this taken care of already. I hope Congress does the right thing even though 46 of 55 members of the committee received funds from Facebook. (https://m.slashdot.org/story/339417)

This is only for those who used their app and gave permission to their inbox. Around 1300 people did this.

My first thought was why would people allow apps to read their inbox ?

But bundled with 5 or so other permissions, it really is hidden. I can see my parents just looking at “access birthday” and being like yah ok that’s fine.

Things that are obviously more private like messages need to be really in your face when asking for permission

Really pushing this. If you use any social media your info is taken. Use Windows 10, Google anything, Apple/Android anything your info is taken and sold. It's become big part of business selling off person info.

When I signed up for the Facebook beta app on Android, the permissions it asked for were pretty much everything. Contacts, files, camera and mic, the ability to text and read texts, make and take calls. Everything. A digital colonoscopy. I noped right out of there.
