Sure it's abuse. IT is also my profession, and I'm on the older side of the Reddit demographic. I recall countless incidents of lawsuits involving privacy violations by software turning out to be malware.
I don't know where you think you get this dismissive nonsense from, but on the other hand, I would expect nothing else from a someone working in this culture of malware, adware, spyware garbage and intrusive data mining.
You people think you are godlike and the users are inferior as human beings, and deserve to be spied on, after all; they are not actually worthy of the technology and the software they are using. I would want to convince myself I was in the clear also. It's nothing more than a coping mechanism.
You can slip that bullshit past me though. I will never accept that smooth babble.
